A few snaps from our research on the Australian Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata) in South Australia. This magnificent Aussie bird is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, mainly due to unsustainable farming practices and feral predators.

We followed 2 pairs of this bird on a stunning private property in Taratap, SE of South Australia. Monitored two nest mounds and filmed these birds for our upcoming documentary series - Heart of the Mallee.

We would like to thank Zoo and Aquarium Association Australasia for having us at the 2024 ZAA Conference! It was incredible, very informative, fantastically organised and as a new organisation on the block, we received a warm welcome and support from everyone!💚

Have a go at these fluffy athletes!!🦘
For the past year we have been gathering information about the Brush-tailed Rock Wallabies (Petrogale penicillata) and their behavioural ecology as well as the reaction to prescribed ecological burns.
Brush-tailed Rock Wallabies are listed as VULNERABLE on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and certainly need our protection!

The rocky cliff faces of Eastern Australia would certainly not be the same without these characters! ⛰🦘⛰💚

‘’Tasmanian tiger’’ is a nickname for Thylacine. Several species of Thylacines lived from Tasmania, the Australian mainland to PNG. Thylacine greatly suffered due to human invasion which eventually led to its incredibly sad extinction. Firstly, the introduction of dingoes around 5,000 – 10,000 years ago by the indigenous Australians. The solitary, ambush hunter could not compete with the highly successful pack-hunting of the dingo. And so, Tasmania became the last refuge for the Thylacine. The arrival of first settlers, deforestation, livestock and persecution settled the fate of this incredible predator. And so, the 25-million-year history of the Thylacine family in Australia came to an end.

There is a lesson to be learned from the past, hence, we believe that thylacine is a perfect ambassador for extinction awareness and reminder of what will happen if we let the current mass extinction continue. 🌏💚
