Masters Swimming Australia members here is your chance to be part of the first Hayman Island Ocean Swim Classic. 🌊
Swim Hardy Reef, Whitehaven Beach and Langford Island, stay on Hayman Island, and share the week with Olympic gold medallists Duncan Armstrong OAM and Brooke Hanson OLY OAM, World Ironman Champion Guy Leech and host Cameron Daddo.

🏊 Athlete Spotlight | Meet Cherie Summers

From Methven, New Zealand to the Gold Coast, we're excited to welcome Cherie Summers to her very first Pan Pacific Masters Games at !

Cherie's Masters Swimming journey began in the early 1990s when her older sister encouraged her to join Melville Masters Swimming Club in Western Australia and compete in a swim meet. What started as a simple suggestion turned into a lifelong connection with the sport.

Over the years, Cherie has swum with several clubs, including Rats of Tobruk in Townsville, Freo Fins in Western Australia, and now Ashburton Masters Club in New Zealand, where she lives in the rural town of Methven near Mount Hutt.

For Cherie, Masters Swimming is all about a love of the water and the people.

"We're here for Fitness, Friendship and Fun. Although I'd add another one... Fierce, because there are some very fierce competitive swimmers!"

While this will be her first Pan Pacific Masters Games, Cherie is no stranger to Masters competition. One of her most memorable experiences was competing at the New Zealand Masters Nationals in Auckland this year and taking in the excitement of swimmers chasing Commonwealth Games qualification.

At PPMG26, she's looking forward to reconnecting with old swimming friends from the Bay of Plenty and meeting new people who share her passion for swimming.

Cherie also wanted to share a special thank you to everyone who makes events like this possible.

INVITATION TO CONTRIBUTE TO QUT SWIMMING RESEARCH FOR BRISBANE

Do you swim in oceans, bays, rivers, lakes, dams or other natural waterways across South East Queensland?

QUT researchers are seeking participants for a short, anonymous 10-minute survey exploring how swimming can contribute to Brisbane's future as a more swimmable and liveable city.

Your experiences and ideas could help shape future swimming opportunities and urban blue spaces for Brisbane.
