Coming along to Connections 2025 with South Australian ambassador Anna Graves will be Hamish, the mascot of the South Australian graduates of the Diploma of Family History. Hamish is named after Professor Hamish Maxwell-Stewart, who was the course lecturer and one of our special guest speakers and Master Class presenter. Ambassador’s pick! For NSW ambassador, amateur genealogist Jill Ball and novice One Place Study researcher, is looking forward to attending Belinda Daly’s session “Connecting Social History, local history and family history on St Helena Island” (11am, Friday, March 21) where she hopes to learn about resources and strategies to tame the mass of information she is collecting about her place, Carey Bay. Jill’s own presentation, “The Thoughtful Ancestor” (3pm, Sunday, March 23) will help guide family historians in making decisions to ensure their work is preserved for future generations.
