Food Connect Foundation

Food Connect Foundation Supporting the creation of regenerative and regionalised food systems across Australia.

We work directly with communities to build shared infrastructure, develop local leaders, and create new pathways that connect farmers and food entrepreneurs. Founded in 2005, Food Connect was our original social enterprise that provided local, seasonal and ecological food direct from farmers. Food Connect Foundation was later formed in 2009 to open source the idea of a fairer food distribution sys

tem for local communities, and now advocates across business, community groups and government through the incubation of demonstration projects, as well as providing education and awareness for those ready to transform their food system.

It's a squeezy time for hospitality and food service. Rising wages, rising food costs, rising energy prices - you're at the end point before the customer, with many of the fuel/labour/input costs along the supply chain flowing to you. You can panic, or just kick those costs on to the customer... or you could join us on 20 July to workshop solutions alongside the farmers, wholesalers and logistics teams you're in this with.

When we prioritise and enable a strong regional food system and value chain, we can lower costs, make businesses more resilient, and create a booming food scene. Streamline processes, ditch the double-handling, and tell a great story to diners while we're at it.

Day 2 of SEQ Food Summit brings together growers, chefs and others in the business of food to collaborate and look at what needs to change - how we can break down barriers to local sourcing, what policies and guidelines could help, and what winning together looks like. Your feedback and insights will drive discussion and planning with government leaders the next day.

Last week our co-CEO Emma-Kate Rose headed to Melbourne for an in-person gathering on Mobilising Australia's Food System Movement, hosted by Macdoch Foundation.

Not only was it an opportunity to catch up with old friends and form new ones as we build allyship across the food system, but EK was also able to join Murray Gray (Sustainable Table) and Serenity Hill (Open Food Network Australia) to talk about our collective efforts launching the Regenerative Food & Farming Alliance (RFFA).

Fantastic to see so many impactful initiatives taking shape across the food system. A huge thanks to Macdoch for bringing us together!

Couple of big changes!

💡1. People’s Day has evolved. We were overwhelmed by positive feedback on the listening posts at our 2024 Summit - what we’d originally wondered if many would stop and make time for ended up being one of the most powerful parts of the day. So this year we’re giving the community a proper ‘Summit’ session to learn, collaborate and make sure your voices get carried through to the rooms where decisions get made, in Your Food, Your Future - People's Day workshop, SEQ Food Summit

🍻2. Not one but two evening social events, both open to everyone. Because none of this is possible without joy, fun and connection! A food film night on 19 July, and then on the 20th, an Eat Drink Think evening of panels and lightning talks from some big brains and bigger personalities in food. Details on these to come very soon, watch this space.

🧑‍🌾3. Industry Day is no longer invite-only. If you're in the business of growing, buying, transporting, cooking or serving food, we want you in the room. Come find your next collaborator or big idea.

We designed SEQ Food Summit to be practical, interconnected and build momentum, with each day building on the last: so that community voices inform industry, industry realities shape policy, and plenty of fun is had along the way 🍎💡🍷

Tap through to see what's happening across the three days (and the evenings in between).

Earlybird tickets are open now: https://fcf.org.au/event/2026SEQFS

Earlybird tickets are OPEN - and we want you there 🐣

The future of food in South East QLD is being decided right now. What ends up on plates in schools, hospitals, and homes across the region. How our farmers stay afloat. What we’re leaving for future generations.

These aren't decisions that should just happen in boardrooms.

The SEQ Food Summit is three days of real conversation with growers, chefs, young people, policy makers and communities building something together. Your ideas and priorities shape what actually gets taken to government.

Early bird registration now open for People’s Day community workshop, Industry Forum and Policy Day (with some fun evening events added soon!).

Earlybird tickets coming soon, but find out how you can be involved from the ground level here: https://fcf.org.au/event/2026SEQFS
