Kurilpa Kitchen is funded by grants from the Australian Department of Health and managed by Australian Pensioners and Superannuants League QLD, Inc. This community social support service helps people of all ages to maintain dignity and independence. If people eat well they will stay well and will not become a health statistic. There are many reasons why people are referred to Kurilpa Kitchen. The

se range from poor nutritional status to post-hospital support. Many older adults become unable to shop for food and prepare their own meals on a regular basis. In addition to nutritional needs, some seniors experience social isolation and loneliness, especially after the death of a spouse, family member or close friend. Sometimes people visit Kurilpa Kitchen because they need emotional support or simple human contact and conversation. At Kurilpa Senior Citizens Centre, we provide a place for socialisation, activities, and community events.
