Today we said goodbye to a dear friend of Wynnum Wipeout.

Bill Armstrong was the pastor the Wynnum Manly alliance Church for many years retiring in 2013.

Bill was well known for his straight talk and great sense of humour. He was wise and caring and passionate about seeing people find the best in life and in themselves.

We thank Bill for his leadership, teaching and his bold yet sensitive ability to share the gospel with anyone he met.

A true legend of Wipeout.

With Wynnum Wipeout unable to go ahead here is something from Laser Skirmish who are great supporters of Wipeout.

They are hosting a Laser Tag day in the last week of School Holidays.

Thursday 18th January is the day.

Recommended for 5 years old and up.
Players under 18 just need to ask their Parent / Guardian to sign a membership form, prior to play.

Everyone needs to wear long pants and covered shoes.

CANCELLATION CONFIRMATION

With a heavy heart we must confirm the cancellation of Wynnum Wipeout 2024.

The logistics around trying to move at such short notice and the impacts to what we could and could not run do not make it possible.

We are so sorry to have to cancel this close to go day but sadly have no better option.

We are coordinating with Scripture Union for anyone who has booked to get refunded and will update you with that process via email as soon as it is confirmed. They may take a few days (work days) to appear back in accounts at your end.

Thank you to everyone who was planning to come and we are encouraged to believe that we will see you in 2025.

WYNNUM WIPEOUT - POSSIBLE CANCELLATION

Hi,

Not the subject line I was expecting to have to type this year.

Unfortunately we just found out that the main water line into Wynnum State High burst during the recent major storms and will not be fixed at least until Wednesday of Wipeout week at the earliest.

This means the school can’t be used as our base of operations.

The news took the wind out of us all when we heard. I haven’t heard a zoom call that quiet before.

After the silence we made some plans for some speedy enquiries to try and get a replacement venue.

We have some specific needs for the program that Wynnum High perfectly provides for. We are able to have multiple activities running on site at the same time with close proximity to a Train Station. It also allows us to reduce expenses by hosting activities on site such as Chill Zone and Art & Craft (bonus that it is air conditioned), Kitchens for Cooking, interesting terrain for Laser tag.

If we move to a venue that can’t provide most of this it means we will likely need to cancel activities in an already reduced capacity event. That with the additional costs associated with a major shift at the last minute, reduced activities meaning further reduced numbers means the program will not be viable.

We are also very aware of the impact this will have on families who are potentially relying on the program for their kids for the week. We feel compelled to make a decision sooner rather than later to ensure you have enough time to make alternative arrangements.

The Management Committee are all pursuing options and will meet again tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday) to confirm what is and is not possible. We will make the decision then as to whether the program can go ahead next week.

We are all gutted that it may lead to that but we are hoping and praying for a solution.

⇣ YOU'RE INVITED THIS CHRISTMAS ⇣

Planning is already well underway for our Christmas Services, and we can't wait to celebrate the coming of our Saviour into the world—Emmanuel, God with us!

This year we're having three services: 5pm & 7pm on Christmas Eve, and 8am Christmas Day.

Between the services on Christmas Eve we will have a community time with free barista-made coffee, and plenty of free fun activities for kids!

We are pleased to announce that we are back in 2024.

As we are still recovering from the impacts of two years not being able to provide Wynnum Wipeout, 2024 will have a reduced capacity and program.

We will have a cap of around 100 kids per day and will be running only Monday 8th to Friday 12th with no Saturday program.

Activities are generally the same as normal with reduced quantity of sessions. The Big Day Out at Wet & Wild will be on Thursday this year with the Pool Party & BBQ happening on Friday (following a special new activity for the morning)

We are currently building the Registration system and will let you know when we are live to book.
