l is the association of all Rotary clubs worldwide. OUR ACTIVITIES
Members of the Rotary Club of Woolloongabba are involved in many different activities. Our aim is to undertake activities which serve our community both locally and throughout the world. Community Service:
• Working with community groups and developing community ties and structures.
• Working with Woolloongabba Senior Citizens Centre to provide a community centre for everyone.
• Supporting Beef Bank and Food Bank to combat hunger amongst our homeless. International Service:
• Supporting international relief such as Shelter Box – an emergency shelter scheme for people trapped by disaster or war.
• Supporting RAMS in its fight against malaria.
• Supporting ROMAC provides dignity and a useful body to injured children unable to gain medical treatment in their country. Vocational Services:
• Working with community groups like CEA Inc to aid in training.
• Supporting indigenous training groups during the refurbishment of the centre. Youth Services:
• Supporting Rotary youth projects such as the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and National Youth Science Forum. PROJECTS COMPLETED BY

Service to the Elderly
• Establishment of the Woolloongabba Senior Citizens Centre with provision of a modern brick building.
• Commencement of Woolloongabba Meals on Wheels.
• Provision of mobile telephones to Mt. Services to Hospitals:
• Equipping a four (4) bed ward at Mt Olivet Hospital.
• Donation of the first artificial kidney to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
• Provision of retina camera for the Diabetes Section at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
• Donation to Mater Children’s Hospital Respiratory Clinic and to Child Cancer Unit.
• Support for medical research by donations to: the Australian Kidney Foundation; National Heart Foundation; Leukaemia Foundation; Queensland Cancer Fund.
• Raised $300,000 for 100 electronic beds at Mt Olivet Hospital.
• Provision of videos for Mt Olivet Hospital, hospital equipment. Service to the Community:
• Service to the Woolloongabba Police Citizens Youth Welfare Club.
• Purchased an ambulance for South Brisbane Ambulance Centre.
• Provision of vehicle for Blue Nursing Service.
• Participation in annual Salvation Army Red Shield Door-knock appeal.
• Development of Brisbane Rotary Park and provision of playground equipment in Raymond Park.
• Presentation of a monitor defibrillator to the South Brisbane Ambulance Centre.
• Supply Smoke Detectors to aged and infirmed.
• Fund raising for East Brisbane Community Centre.
• Fund raising for FoodBank to feed the homeless. Service to the Disabled:
• Provision of vehicle & braille equipment for Blind Welfare Association.
• Major contribution towards purchase of a bus for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Assistance to Narbethong School for the visually impaired.
• Purchase of equipment for Xavier Home for disabled children. Service to Youth:
• Assistance to local Scouts & Guides.
• Prizes, bursaries and project support for East Brisbane State School and Coorparoo High School.
• Vocational information for Senior students.
• Sponsorship for students to attend the annual National Science and National Engineering Summer Schools.
• Development of leadership in young people through Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. International Service:
• Participation in Rotary Youth Exchange Programs sending students overseas for one year.
• Involvement in the Group Study Exchange Program for Reciprocal Study Tours overseas for selected young business and professional people.
• Support for Health programs in developing countries including immunisation project to eradicate polio.
• Raising funds to fight malaria in PNG.
