National Police Legacy Day, a day of acknowledgement of the work of Police Legacy charities, is being recognised on 17th June 2026.

We are so very thankful and grateful to IGA QLD who have partnered with us and sponsored Queensland Police Legacy for National Police Legacy Day.

IGA QLD Board Member and proprietor of IGA Springfield Lakes, Terry Slaughter, said IGA stores across Queensland were thrilled to be backing National Police Legacy Day and Queensland Police Legacy.

“IGA stores in Queensland are incredibly proud to be supporting Queensland Police Legacy this National Police Legacy Day. Police play an important role in the community, and to thank them for their service and support, IGA QLD stores have rallied together to donate $25,000 to Queensland Police Legacy and will be providing free Police Legacy Daisy pins for local shoppers on Wednesday 17 June. Quantities will be limited, so make sure you head into your local store quickly,” Mr Slaughter said.

This generous donation will make a difference to the lives of many of our young Police Legatees who are doing their best to continue on with their lives after facing tragedy. We are very grateful and most thankful to IGA QLD stores.

In one week's time, on the 17th of June, the work of Queensland Police Legacy and our seven compatriot Police Legacy charities around the country will be celebrated and acknowledged on National Police Legacy Day. Why the 17th of June? That day saw the creation of Queensland Police Legacy, the first Police Legacy in Australia, exactly 55 years earlier.

To mark the day, significant Queensland buildings and landmarks will be lit up purple the evening before.

The Police Legacy Daisy is the logo for National Police Legacy Day. It is inspired by the Michaelmas daisy. The Michaelmas daisy is the flower of St Michael, the patron saint of police who protects those who have sworn to serve and remembers those no longer with us.

Lighting Up the Future: A Magical Night of Memories for Our Police Legacy Families! 🎆🐬🏉

Last night at Suncorp Stadium was pure magic for our Queensland Police Legacy families. The Dolphins were in spectacular form with 8 tries! A massive thank you to Gnech and Associates Lawyers who pledged $1,000 per try but exhibited incredible kindness by donating a total of $10,000.

These funds directly empower the educational journeys and academic aspirations of our legatee children. While the financial support is vital, the memories are just as powerful. Seeing the fireworks light up the stadium created a moment our families will treasure forever 🎆💙.
