🌱 Bushcare and B**r Tree Planting this Sunday 🌿

This Sunday we are hosting an extra special Bushcare and B**r.

Join us on Sunday 18th October for a community planting at Oxley Creek Common. The crew will be planting 125 seedlings before heading to Hiker Brewing Co for a well-deserved and free b**r (non-alcoholic drinks also available).

🌿 Join the Wetland Warriors! 🌿

The Wetland Warriors are one of OCCA’s newest Bushcare groups, and they’d love to welcome some new faces!

The group meets on the first Friday of every month from 8–10 am at Archerfield Wetlands, helping to care for the area by planting and weeding along Blunder Creek.

Here are a few photos from their session last Friday. 🌱

🔍What can tiny water bugs tell us about water quality?

At our recent CreekLab workshop with Brisbane Sustainability Agency, families got the chance to find out.

Our group of budding young scientists and their grown-ups headed outdoors to explore Archerfield Wetlands and search for macroinvertebrates (water bugs). Along the way, participants learnt how these tiny animals are connected to the wider ecosystem and what they can tell us about the health of our wetlands.

We’ll be hosting more CreekLab sessions next year, with dates to be announced in February 2027. If you’re interested in attending a future session, please contact Lindsay at [email protected].
