On Saturday morning the bishops had a session with the leaders of Religious Congregations on the issues surrounding the Voice on which there’s more heat than light in the current discussion. This is a matter which goes to the heart of the national life and we need as much light as possible. Here’s a website which will gather together many helpful resources…have a look at it

Holy Thursday
"Anyone familiar with wheat and grapes knows that the story of bread and w**e is indeed a story of life and death. How wise of Jesus to use such already sacred signs to continue his presence among us.

We have been asked to break the bread and share the cup in his name. Each time we do this we proclaim his death and rising until he comes again. Are not our lives a little like the wheat and grapes? Doesn't a similar kind of religious experience take place in the dying and rising, being broken and crushed, shared together, poured out for one another?

Surely, as in that broken bread and that shared cup, it is the same Christ we are trying to recognise in the brokenness of our lives. The story of our Eucharist is, indeed, a mystery we have hardly begun to tap."
~Macrina Wiederkehr osb

May the blessing of remembrance and thanksgiving be with us this day...and may we recognise him in the breaking of the bread and the pouring of the w**e. We remember, we celebrate, we believe!

Pope Francis, during today's general audience had a suggestion for all of us on how we should live our : "Brothers and sisters I say to you: there is so much suffering in , so much, so much! And I would like to draw attention a little bit to the coming Christmas, even the holidays. It is good to celebrate Christmas, to have parties...but let's lower the level of Christmas spending - that's what they are called. Let's have a more humble Christmas, with more humble gifts. Let's send what we save to the Ukrainian people, who are in need, suffering so much; they go hungry, they feel the cold, and so many die because there are no doctors, nurses on hand. Let us not forget: a Christmas, yes; at peace with the Lord, yes, but with Ukrainians in our hearts. And let us make that concrete gesture for them."

You can send funds directly to Ukraine through The Pontifical Mission Societies:

Not only the Western Downs and Queensland but people from all across Australia have been shocked to the core by the killings at Wieambilla. It’s impossible to make sense of it, so mad and demonic the whole thing seems. But one thing we can do is surround the members of the QPS, their family and friends and the communities affected, with every kind of support, including prayer for those killed, for their families and the devastated communities – especially at this Christmas time. We think in a special way of Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll and all those called to lead the QPS through this traumatic time. I remember being struck by this icon of St Michael in the chapel of the Vatican Police. He is their patron and also the patron of the QPS. May St Michael es**rt Rachel and Matthew safely into God’s presence beyond the horror of their death, and may he stand guard over the QPS at this time.
