IWA Australia is hosting an Emergency Day Out tomorrow at Underwood Park Community Centre, Underwood Road, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This is a valuable opportunity for our community to learn important life-saving information and practical skills to help stay safe and respond effectively during emergency situations.

THE ROHINGYA VOICE HEARD IN THE AUSTRALIAN SENATE

Tonight, the voice of the Rohingya people was heard in the Australian Senate.

We extends its heartfelt gratitude to Senator Paul Scarr Senator Paul Scarr for speaking in Parliament about the Rohingya genocide and * recognising Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day.

It was an honour for BRAQA to work alongside fellow Rohingya partner organisations to ensure the significance of this important day was recognised and that the voices of our community were heard.

Having the Rohingya genocide acknowledged in the Australian Parliament is deeply meaningful to our community. After years of the Rohingya crisis receiving far too little international attention, it remains vital that our history is remembered, the victims are honoured, and the ongoing suffering of the Rohingya people continues to receive attention.

We sincerely thank Senator Scarr for using his voice to remember the victims, acknowledge the ongoing crisis, and stand alongside the Rohingya community.

And we request elected representatives from across the political spectrum to stand with the Rohingya people, recognise the ongoing crisis, and use their voices to advocate for justice, dignity, safety and a peaceful future for the Rohingya people.

Last Saturday, we had the privilege of joining the Rohingya community for Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day a significant day of reflection and solidarity.

The gathering provided an opportunity to honour those who lost their lives, listen to the stories and experiences of the Rohingya people, and recognise the strength and resilience of a community that continues to come together through shared history and experience.

We acknowledge the efforts of the Rohingya United Youth Network, Burmese Rohingya Association in Queensland Australia(BRAQA), Australian Rohingya Council, and Rohingya Community Queensland in bringing the community together for this important occasion.

We sincerely thank the organisers for allowing us to be part of the day. It was a meaningful reminder of the importance of remembrance, community connection and standing together.
May we continue to remember, reflect and support one another, while looking towards a future of safety, dignity and peace.

We highly appreciate the Senator’s support in remembering the victims and survivors of the Rohingya genocide and recognising the ongoing struggle for justice and dignity.

I was honoured to attend the Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day and stand in solidarity with the Rohingya community as we remembered the victims and survivors of one of the most tragic humanitarian crises of our time.

Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day honours victims and survivors of the systematic military crackdown launched by Myanmar's security forces against the Rohingya minority in Rakhine State.

Thank you to the organising committee for bringing the community together to reflect and remember.

Rohingya communities in Queensland gathered to mark Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day, honouring victims, remembering survivors, and calling for justice and recognition.

The commemoration was organised by Rohingya United Youth Network, Australian Rohingya Council, Burmese Rohingya Association in Queensland, and Rohingya Community of Queensland, with the participation of local organisations, elected representatives, community leaders and friends of the Rohingya people.

A new generation is carrying the memory forward.

A Rohingya patriotic song at the Rohingya Genocide remembrance Day 2026 event in Australia.

August 25th marks the Rohingya Genocide Commemoration Day.

In 2017, over 700,000 Rohingya were forced to flee our homes in Arakan state of Myanmar, our villages burned, our families torn apart, our lives forever changed.
We observe this day so the world does not forget the atrocities have been happening on Rohingya.

It was a pleasure to join the Luminous Lantern Parade in Brisbane last evening alongside Multicultural Australia and many other community organisations.

The event was a wonderful celebration of our rich cultural diversity and a reflection of welcoming and inclusive Queensland.
Together, we are building stronger, more connected communities.
