Disaster Relief Australia continues to monitor the flooding in Katherine, Northern Territory and throughout Queensland.

Our team liaises daily with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and representatives on the ground. It is early days and the situation continues to unfold in both locations.

Access to Katherine remains limited and waters continue to rise in Bundaberg and Central Queensland.

Disaster Relief Australia stands ready to assist if and when required.

As we mark International Women’s Day 2026, we’re proud that more women continue to join Disaster Relief Australia as both volunteers and employees.

Today, almost 40 percent of our volunteers are women, and alongside our female employees, contribute their skills, leadership and experience across the organisation.

From mission command and planning through to logistics, field operations, marketing, communications, finance and organisational support, women play a vital role as both volunteers and staff to help communities prepare for and recover from disasters.

Working alongside their male counterparts, they form part of the capable and committed teams that show up when communities need us most.

Our mission is only as strong as the team behind it — and the vehicles carrying them.

Our reliable fleet of Mitsubishi Motors Australia Mitsubishi vehicles is supporting our team on the ground across Victoria on Operation Ranaudo.

This partnership gives us real, tangible support as we serve communities. It drives our efforts forward as we help others recover from some of their worst days.

Thank you Mitsubishi Motors Australia

Bushfires show no mercy.

Disaster Relief Australia volunteers are supporting bushfire-impacted communities on Operation Ranaudo. The path to recovery is long and rarely linear, but our volunteers are on the ground for those who need it most.

Readiness doesn't wait for the next operation. Our Volunteers are always upskilling and sharpening their tools.

Last weekend, our Tasmanian volunteers gathered at a timber yard for a chainsaw course — each of them there for a different reason.

One came to rebuild confidence. One came to take the next step toward becoming a trainer. One travelled from Victoria, determined to gain his qualification and deploy on Op Ranaudo.

This is how we stay prepared to support communities when they need us.

Today, Disaster Relief Australia concludes Wave 2 of Operation Ranaudo.

Our volunteers have been on the ground in Victoria for more than two weeks to help communities begin to recover after devastating bushfires swept through the area in January.

So far, more than 90 DRA volunteers have deployed alongside 192 NAB Foundation Recovery Crew community volunteers. Together, they have spent 5,035 hours in the field helping residents in and around Harcourt, Grass Flat, Streatham and Longwood. We have cleared debris, felled burnt trees and removed damaged property.

Our work is not yet done.

We will take a brief break and return on 4 March at the request of Emergency Recovery Victoria, to provide further support in the coming months.

It is our privilege to serve the people of Victoria and we again acknowledge the commitment of our volunteers as we deliver on this important mission.

Thank you for your service.

Disaster Relief Australia thanks the Yea Tennis Club and Yea Junior Football Netball Club for their support of our volunteers during the current bushfire fire recovery Operation Ranaudo.

By opening their clubhouse as a base for our team, the Yea Tennis Club and Yea Junior Football Netball Club have enabled our volunteers to assist the community.

Having a place to rest and recharge is essential to sustaining the effort our volunteers put in each day. This kind of support makes a real difference on the ground.

We thank both clubs for their hospitality and community spirit - it is greatly appreciated by our entire team.

Even while deployed on operations, our teams continue to support communities right across Australia.

On 15 February, Disaster Relief Australia collaborated with Bullsbrook Volunteer Fire and Emergency Service Beat the Heat in WA, bringing our Interactive Big Map to help locals better understand disaster preparedness and recovery.

The Big Map gives communities a hands-on way to explore local risks, talk through real-world scenarios, and learn practical steps to prepare for extreme weather events.

Even while we’re active on Operation Ranaudo, we remain committed to helping communities Australia-wide prepare for and recover from disasters.

After devastating bushfires swept across the area, every pair of hands makes a real difference. Whether you can spare a day or the full weekend, your support will help impacted community members begin their recovery journey.

No experience is necessary. Just a willingness to help and work as part of a team.

When: 21-14 February
Where: Grass Flat and Streatham

It was all hands-on deck this past weekend on Operation Ranaudo.

We welcomed Victoria’s Emergency Management Commissioner Emc Tim Wiebusch in the field.

Alongside our volunteers, he visited a local family whose property was impacted by January bushfires.

He spoke with our volunteers and shared his appreciation of their efforts – not least our coordination of spontaneous and community volunteers.

Throughout the weekend, NAB Foundation Recovery Crew volunteers worked alongside core Disaster Relief Australia volunteers in Yea, Longwood, and Harcourt to support bushfire recovery efforts.

Our work continues this week as we stand alongside bushfire-affected communities across Victoria.
