Member Group Feature — Western Suburbs Clayworkers

One of the wonderful groups joining us at the BVAC Arts & Craft Pop-Up is the Western Suburbs Clayworkers.

Working with clay offers endless possibilities for creativity, and the artists within this group produce an impressive range of ceramic works, from functional pieces to highly decorative and contemporary creations.

Every piece begins as raw clay and is shaped, carved, glazed and fired through a series of skilled processes. The result is work that reflects both artistic vision and the unique character that only handmade ceramics can offer.

The pieces featured here showcase the rich textures, expressive surfaces and individuality that make handmade pottery and ceramic art so special.

Whether you're looking for a unique gift, a statement piece for your home, or simply enjoy discovering handcrafted art, be sure to visit the Western Suburbs Clayworkers display at this year's Pop-Up Shop.

Member Group Feature — Australasian Porcelain Art Teachers

One of the many creative groups participating in this year's BVAC Arts & Craft Pop-Up is the Australasian Porcelain Art Teachers.

Dedicated to the art of porcelain painting, this talented group creates beautiful works that combine traditional techniques, artistic skill, and incredible attention to detail.

Porcelain art, often known as china painting, involves carefully applying specialised paints to porcelain surfaces before firing them in a kiln. The result is artwork that is both delicate and enduring, transforming everyday objects into works of art.

Visitors to the BVAC Arts & Craft Pop-Up will have the opportunity to see examples of this fascinating art form and discover the craftsmanship that goes into every piece.

Whether you're already a fan of porcelain art or seeing it for the first time, you'll be amazed by the detail, colour and creativity on display.

Artist Feature — Wendy McKean
Creative Glass Guild of Queensland

We’re excited to feature artist Wendy McKean, who will be part of the upcoming BVAC Arts & Craft Pop-Up this June.

Wendy creates beautiful handmade glass beads using a technique known as lampworking — a specialised form of glass art where glass rods are melted using a gas and oxygen-fuelled torch before being shaped by hand.

Using tools, movement, gravity, colour and carefully placed inclusions, Wendy transforms molten glass into detailed beads filled with pattern, texture and character.

Inspired heavily by nature, many of Wendy’s pieces reflect her love of birds and the natural world, resulting in unique handcrafted works full of colour and personality.

Come along and discover Wendy’s work alongside many other talented artists and makers at Brisbane’s favourite Arts & Craft Pop-Up.
