Our aim is to Ensure Safe Communities through Education, Owner Support and Responsible Dog Ownership. BARK Qld’s goals and objectives are:
• Advocating and rallying for science-based Animal Management policies & legislation within Queensland and Australia that will help to create safe communities and reduce the incidents of dog attacks
and bites.
• Supplying educational resources on responsible pet ownership practices including information on desexing, socialisation, training, management, & diet etc
• Providing an essential port of call in the liaison and support to families and their dogs who have been unfairly targeted by Breed Specific Legislation and Menacing/Dangerous dog legislation in Queensland.
• Collaborating with BAWP, solicitors and other advocacy organizations to provide legal advice and representation to dog owners in need.
• Working together with Councils, Rescue Groups, Animal Welfare Organizations, Purebred Pedigreed Breed Clubs & the Veterinary Industry to educate and advocate for responsible pet ownership.
• Providing the public with information on animal management issues and programs that impact their safety and the use of their tax dollars.
• To actively participate in and develop community programs that will assist in reducing euthanasia rates and surrender of pet dogs due to behavioral, housing or other issues. This can include owner support in reclaiming their animals from shelter facilities with the Keep Them Home Project
