The Half Dozen Group of Artists Inc. HDG is a community arts group which has untutored workshops in portraiture and life drawing as well as a weekly, informal workshop.

It provides exhibiting and social opportunities for members. Everyone is welcome and all that is needed is a love of art! The Half Dozen Group of Artists, (HDG) is a community arts organisation which hosts workshops in portraiture and life drawing. The studio is at 37 Quarry Rd, Sherwood Qld. Untutored workshops run from 10am to 1pm, every weekday except Wednesdays. Members vary from hobby artists

to professionals, and all enjoy the practice and appreciation of art. The group is welcoming and encourages new members.

Here’s the buzz — spots are still available in our July School Holiday Workshop “Bees”. But be quick.

Art tutor Kim Woolley will be teaching children, 8 years and over, all about these busy creatures and how to draw them using pencils, pens and watercolours. All materials needed are supplied on the day.

Where: HDG-Artists Studio, 37 Quarry Rd, Sherwood

When: Wednesday July 8, 10am to 1pm.

A huge thank you to historian, critic and artist Greg de Silva for officially opening the Half Dozen Group of Artists 85th Annual Art Exhibition on Saturday night.

Greg’s speech on the various dignitaries and celebrities who have opened our show over the decades was fascinating. Who knew Hollywood legend Vivian Leigh, the star of Gone with the Wind, was one of them!

The 2026 HDG-Artists exhibition and art sale continues at the Studio, 37 Quarry Road, Sherwood, until noon tomorrow (Tuesday June 16) All welcome.

It’s day three of the HDG-Artists’ 85th Annual Exhibition and Art Sale, and today we’ve had a stream of visitors drifting through the Studio doors. Congratulations to all the artists who have sold works already!

We’re here until 4pm today and open throughout the weekend, so there’s still plenty of time to drop by to see some amazing art or grab a bargain. We also have a wonderful pastel watercolour landscape to raffle - just $1 for two tickets.

Sherwood Community Kindy came across the park to view our Annual Exhibition today! Hope you liked the show, kids.

We will be exhibiting until next Tuesday so please come on over to the Studio at 37 Quarry Rd, Sherwood - we’ll be open until 4pm.

With more than 100 diverse artworks on show, there’s plenty to see and buy at very reasonable prices.

Just one week to go until our Annual Exhibition and Art Sale opens to the public!

The Half Dozen Group of Artists has been going since 1941, making this our 85th Annual show, and with 94 member artists, we’re still going strong.

The exhibition will feature a wide variety of styles and mediums with most works for sale at very reasonable prices.

So please join us at the Studio at 37 Quarry Road Sherwood from Wednesday June 10 to June 16.
