The Half Dozen Group of Artists Inc.

The Half Dozen Group of Artists Inc. HDG is a community arts group which has untutored workshops in portraiture and life drawing as well as a weekly, informal workshop.

It provides exhibiting and social opportunities for members. Everyone is welcome and all that is needed is a love of art! The Half Dozen Group of Artists, (HDG) is a community arts organisation which hosts workshops in portraiture and life drawing. The studio is at 37 Quarry Rd, Sherwood Qld. Untutored workshops run from 10am to 1pm, every weekday except Wednesdays. Members vary from hobby artists

to professionals, and all enjoy the practice and appreciation of art. The group is welcoming and encourages new members.

Just a reminder to get your entries in for the Audrey Gibbs Art Prize!! Submissions close on August 26.

For this exhibition artists are asked to submit genre artworks. This includes those artworks that depict ordinary people in everyday situations, both in the exterior and the interior. Rather than heroic or mythological subjects, these works celebrate the familiar: everyday people participating in domestic routines, work, leisure, social gatherings, and quiet moments of daily life. Spanning centuries, the show highlights how artists have found beauty, humour, and meaning in the ordinary, offering intimate windows into human experience and social history.

Artists are invited to submit artworks in their own choice of media including both 2D and 3D works.

Entries due: Wednesday, 26th of August, 3:30pm
Entry fees:
- $30 for RQAS Brisbane Members
- $50 for non-members

It’s nearly the First Friday of the Month, which means … it’s costume time! Last month our model Mercedes treated us to a burlesque theme. What an exciting challenge, as you can see by the artworks here.

Our next costume Life Drawing Workshop is happening this Friday, 7 August from 1.30pm – 4.30pm. Please arrive and be set-up by 1.15pm so we can start on time.

Our model James will be wearing a western cowboy outfit (his work clothes) so we’re sure it will be an interesting session.

We will do our usual mix of short, dynamic poses to start with, followed by some longer poses after the break.

The cost is $20 for members, $25 for non-members, and the HDG-Artists Studio is located at 37 Quarry Road Sherwood. Hope to see you there.
