Beyond DV

Beyond DV Beyond DV Ltd is a charity that strives to prevent domestic violence through Recovery Support and Community Education.

Creators of the "Ask a Mate" App for young men and "Love&Learn" App for young women, Dress to Express Day and shopping centre HOPE Hubs. OUR STORY
Beyond DV Ltd was founded by Brisbane Teacher/School Adninistrator Carolyn Robinson, after her own daughter was impacted by domestic violence in 2017. Accompanying her daughter to court on numerous occasions had a profound impact on Carolyn, igniting a

desire to use her existing skills, expertise and contacts to help women and children rebuild their lives after domestic violence and to raise awareness around DV in the community. Beyond DV launched as a charity in January 2018. In 2020, Beyond DV and the Founder were inducted into the Qld Government Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Honour Roll. WOMENS PROGRAMS

💜🧡SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW 4PM!🧡💜

**WOMEN AND CHILDREN SHOULD *NEVER* BE ABUSED OR CONTROLLED!!!**

💜🧡 DRESS TO EXPRESS DAY 2026 🧡💜

If you have a TEENAGE DAUGHTER, bring her along to our "DRESS TO EXPRESS" WALK & RALLY in the CBD at 4pm, Friday 28 August.

Coercive control through fashion (eg being told what you can/cannot wear, how to wear your hair etc) is one of the first and most common signs of control in an abusive relationship and many women have reported experiencing this. It can also lead to other types of control.

On DRESS TO EXPRESS DAY, in partnership with Brisbane Fashion Festival , our goal is to raise awareness about the subtle, everyday signs of coercive control in relationships and the support that is available if you're in an abusive relationship.

💜WE WILL ALSO BE WALKING IN SOLIDARITY WITH MANY INCREDIBLE DV SURVIVORS WHO ARE REDISCOVERING THEIR IDENTITY AFTER LEAVING ABUSE.💜

🧡We'll meet at King George Square at 4pm, and walk together to the Queen Street Mall stage.

🧡We'll be joined by Dress to Express Ambassadors Lady Mayoress , Brisbane Fashion Festival model Brooke Lawrie and fashion icon/MND Warrior/Survivor Advocate Jo Boon.

🧡We'll hear from inspirational, informative speakers

🧡We'll be entertained with live music and audience activities

We'll also have information stalls there

To say that it's been a shocking week for the reputation of the AFL would be an understatement.

But there are still players in the league who are using their profile in the best way possible as positive role models. For us, having Brisbane Lions Co-Captain Harris Andrews as Beyond DV 's Ambassador since 2018 has been a huge plus for our charity.

Craig & I flew down to Melbourne to watch the Lions play Collingwood last night.
After the game, we headed to the boundary to cheer for the players as they came over to the fans.

Harris noticed me in the crowd & signalled that he'd give me a call, as you can see in the video below, because we're getting ready to launch the 2027 Harris Andrews Bursary for young men who have been impacted by DFV, to help them achieve their dreams.

The abhorrent behaviour of some should never negate the positive work of men who are willing to use their status for good.

Thank you, Harris, for being a beacon of how a positive role model should act and look. I hope we see more men, who have the power to influence young men, stepping up. 💜

18/08/2026

Like the majority of community members, I am horrified by the alleged behaviour of AFL players on Monday morning, and our full support is with the victim as she navigates an unfathomable path that no woman should ever have to walk down.

This is where we need to see every man who believes that he is a decent man, condemning this type of behaviour.

I did remark to my husband, as I read comments on social media posts about the incident, that there were so many men saying how disgusted they were, that there was no place for this sort of behaviour in our community and that the consequences for those involved should be as strong as possible.

This gave me hope. Hope that more men are willing to recognise and call out unacceptable behaviour, rather than being comfortable with the old "boys will be boys" rhetoric.

But we need to move beyond the "calling out" online. We need decent men to
*call out inappropriate, sexist, misogynist, disrespectful, abusive behaviour in your own settings- workplaces, clubs, families, friendship groups
*step up and model respectful behaviour for the young men around you
*show the women around you, through your own words and actions, that you are a strong, unwavering ally

I sense that this incident is going to be a "line in the sand" moment. Which side of the line are you going to stand on??

UPDATE: The five players in question have been stood down by their club for the rest of the season.
