'We are nurturing the life and growth of our community'

Bardon Community Kindy is a non-profit community organisation that has had an important presence in the Bardon Community for over 60 years. We have two units that each week provide a place for living and learning for 88 children. We are committed to providing genuine and quality early chi

ldhood education and care that is delivered by our team of highly qualified and dedicated staff. We offer a kindergarten program that is rated as exceeding the national quality standard for children aged 3.5 years to school age in the year prior to starting Prep. We are situated in the heart of Bowman Park, along the banks of Ithaca Creek and our natural environment is a valued asset and focus within our program. Our children engage in authentic and emergent inquiry, work and play under the dappled light of our natural canopy.

This week the Bardon Kindy children had an exciting adventure into the community when they walked with teachers and parents to visit Bardon State School.

Through play and nurturing connections in a classroom environment, we’re proud to help children grow in confidence and independence as they prepare for their next big step — starting school.

Thank you to the amazing teachers and students at Bardon State School for your warm welcome and ongoing partnership.

What a wonderful way to kick off our final term of kindy! This week we had an up‑close, hands‑on wildlife experience thanks to Gecko's Wildlife. 🐊🐸🐍

During the session, the children met:

a long‑neck turtle

a green tree frog

an albino python

a sugar glider

a saltwater crocodile

…and many more of our native creatures

It wasn’t just fun, it was a meaningful experience to spark curiosity about the natural world, build empathy and respect for all living beings and inspire lifelong habits that support environmental care.

Collaborative learning at Bardon Kindy.

Our 'green team' have celebrated the end of term 3 by creating a group representation about adventures to Ithaca Creek. It includes the children's ideas about the rocks, trees, water and wildlife.

This beautiful project is more than just recalling and representing what the children see, but an important way to work together, listen to each other, make decisions, manipulate pens and scissors and be creative!🍃

We are incredibly grateful for opportunities to meet with specialists who enrich our curriculum and support us to engage in real-world, meaningful learning.

Thankyou to Dr Toby from Bee Aware Kids for visiting us this week to support us to learn about Australian native stingless bees. 🍯

Experiences like these highlight the interconnectedness between people, living things and the environment, nurturing both knowledge and respect for our natural world.

If you would like to continue exploring native bees at home, we recommend the following podcasts.

For the children - Follow this link for a child friendly podcast about bees (we have listened to this one at Kindy):

We love to celebrate the valuable role grandparents play in our children’s lives with our annual Grandparents & Grandfriends Mornings – a special time to build intergenerational bonds that nurture belonging and identity.

Thank you to all of the grandparents and grandfriends who came along to our yellow and green groups. Red and blue groups are excited to welcome their visitors next week!💛

Taking time to connect with the natural world at Bardon Kindy includes many elements—including exploring an interest in lighting a small fire. Last week, our Blue Group collected sticks and twigs around the yard before gathering with teachers to engage in lots of scientific inquiry, conversations, problem-solving, resilience, patience, safety and environmental stewardship.

We are so very fortunate to have access to Bowman Park oval where we recently held our annual sports mornings. These were joyful events with each group connecting and being active in the warm sunshine.

Events such as running, balancing, hurdling and throwing were combined with laughing, persistence and cheering each other on 🏃‍♀️✨

The sidelines were full of family support, and the oval was filled with friendship, teamwork and plenty of smiles. 🌳💛💚 ❤️💙

Thankyou to everyone who came along to join in the fun!
