Sport gave so many of us more than fitness. It gave us confidence, discipline, friendships, and a reason to show up every day.

Not every kid gets that opportunity.

The NK Foundation is changing that — one facility, one community, one kid at a time.

If this matters to you, share this post. Every share puts this in front of someone who might help make it happen.

These girls woke up on a Sunday with no idea what was coming.

By the afternoon, they were on court with a Grand Slam finalist.

That moment matters more than it looks.

It’s not about tennis. It’s about a kid realising that someone who’s reached the top of the world still chose to show up for her.

That changes something.

That’s what the NK Foundation does — gets into communities before the world has a chance to tell kids what they can’t do.

Help us keep showing up 💚

The data is not subtle.

95% of Fortune 500 CEOs played sport. 94% of women in C-suite positions were athletes. Former student athletes earn up to 8% more annually than those who never played.

Sport teaches resilience, discipline, how to lose, how to lead, how to work inside a team and carry pressure. These are not soft skills. They are the exact skills that determine who succeeds in life.

And right now, 1 in 3 Australian kids is planning to drop out. Not because they want to. Because their families can’t afford the fees, the uniforms, the travel.

The kids who are being priced out of sport are being priced out of the pipeline to success.

The NK Foundation exists to change that. To build facilities. To remove barriers. To give every kid access to the same starting line, regardless of postcode.

If you believe sport changes lives — help us prove it.

The data doesn’t lie.

1.5 million Australian kids are sitting on the sidelines — not because they don’t want to play, but because they can’t afford to, or simply don’t have access.

Kids who play sport show lower rates of anxiety, depression, school dropout, and criminal activity. The research is consistent.

The NK Foundation exists to close that gap — building world-class sporting facilities for kids who need them most. 🟢

The data on youth sport doesn’t lie.

Kids who participate in organised sport are:

📊 40% less likely to drop out of school
📊 Significantly more likely to go on to higher education
📊 Up to 7x less likely to experience depression and anxiety
📊 More likely to earn higher incomes as adults

One study found that over 60% of female executives played sport at a competitive level growing up.

Sport doesn’t just build fitness. It builds discipline, resilience, the ability to lose and come back, and the ability to be part of something bigger than yourself.

The problem? In Australia, 1 in 3 kids from disadvantaged backgrounds never get access to it — not because they don’t want to, but because the cost and the infrastructure aren’t there.

That’s exactly what the NK Foundation exists to fix.

Every dollar donated goes toward giving every kid — regardless of postcode — access to sport and everything that comes with it.

Because the data shows what sport can do. We just need to make sure every kid gets the chance to prove it.

Nick didn’t build this foundation for recognition. He built it because he knows what access to sport can do.

Nick Kyrgios grew up knowing one thing: sport gives kids a fighting chance.

That’s why he founded the NK Foundation.

Not for the headlines. For the kids.

Sport isn’t just about competition. It’s about belonging. Identity. Confidence. Discipline. Community.

↳ Studies consistently show that participation in sport during adolescence is one of the strongest predictors of resilience in adulthood — particularly in disadvantaged youth (Holt et al., 2017 — Developmental Review).

↳ Access to mentors through sport programs reduces risk behaviours in youth by up to 46% (MENTOR, 2020 — The Mentoring Effect Report).

Nick’s vision: a world-class facility that gives every kid — regardless of postcode — access to the same opportunities he had.

We’re making that happen.

1 in 4 Australian children is overweight or obese. Sport is one of the most powerful interventions we have.

Australia has a childhood obesity problem. And it’s getting worse.

↳ 1 in 4 Australian children (aged 5–17) is overweight or obese (ABS National Health Survey, 2022).

↳ Physically inactive children are significantly more likely to carry obesity into adulthood — with all associated risks: cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome (WHO, 2020 Global Action Plan on Physical Activity).

↳ Children who participate in structured sport and physical activity are 30–40% less likely to become obese adults (Must & Tybor, 2005 — International Journal of Obesity).

↳ Yet only 19% of Australian children aged 5–17 meet the recommended 60 minutes of daily moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (ABS, 2022).

The NK Foundation’s facility gives kids a place to move every day.
Not once a week. Every day.

Access is the intervention.

Adults who played sport as children report better mental health and higher levels of grit and persistence later in life.

Not just fitter bodies. Better lives.

More resilience when things get hard. More belief in themselves. More capacity to push through adversity — in school, in work, in everything that follows.

That’s what sport gives a child. Not just in the moment. For decades.

The problem is that opportunity isn’t equally available.

Where you grow up. What your family earns. Whether there’s a coach in your community willing to show up for you.

These things should not determine whether a child gets to develop those qualities.

The NK Foundation bridges that gap — connecting kids who need it most with the coaching and access that changes the trajectory of their lives.

Every child deserves that chance.

Sport doesn’t just build bodies. It builds futures.

The research is unambiguous:

→ 45% reduction in criminal behaviour among youth in structured sport programmes (Journal of Quantitative Criminology — 34-study meta-analysis)
→ Early intervention from ages 3–7 reduces long-term risk of violence (Loughborough University, 2024)
→ Measurable reductions in arrests following structured sport participation (Australian Institute of Criminology)

Trusted coaches. Structured time. Safe spaces. Belonging.

This is what we’re building at the NK Foundation.

Help us give more kids access to sport — and a better future.

Sport doesn’t just build athletes. It builds people. 🌍

Discipline. Resilience. Teamwork. How to win with humility and lose with grace. How to show up for something bigger than yourself.

These aren’t skills you learn in a classroom. You learn them on a court. On a field. In a moment when the pressure is on and the easy choice is to give up.

When we give a young person access to sport, we’re not just giving them something to do after school. We’re giving them a framework for how to live.

That’s why this work matters. That’s why we won’t stop.

Be part of it. 💛
