Diverse Voices is a non-profit organisation with a focus on the wellbeing of the le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex & q***r - or LGBTIQIASB+ - communities through operation of the peer support telephone, web chat & referral service.

On May 7th, alt. generously dedicated their raffle fundraising efforts for ANARCHY to Diverse Voices. At a time when many are navigating financial pressures of their own, we are moved by the incredible generosity of everyone who purchased a raffle ticket throughout the evening, an amazing $600 was raised.

Because of the kindness of a community that believes in looking after each other, this $600 will directly support 10 QLife volunteers to complete ASIST Su***de Intervention Training, equipping them with the skills needed to provide lifesaving frontline support to LGBTQIASB+ people experiencing thoughts of su***de.

To alt., the talented cast of local q***r artists, and every person who attended and contributed to the raffle, thank you.

Community is built through people choosing to support one another, creating spaces where we can connect, be visible, and be reminded that we are not alone.

โ€ผ Important Safety Information - AusAlert emergency alert system test - scheduled for July 27th 2026.

On Monday 27th July 2026 a nationwide test of a new emergency alert system, AusAlert, will take place. A mandatory text and siren will broadcast to compatible mobile phones and other mobile devices.

You cannot opt out of this alert, and it will sound even if your phone is on silent or do not disturb.

For victim-survivors of domestic, family or sexual violence - this could be a risk if the phone or mobile device is hidden for safety, as an alarm will sound on it on this date.

If you have a hidden phone or other mobile device for your safety, please plan ahead. Some ideas include leaving the phone or device with a trusted friend or family member, or at work.

We provide confidential, free, specialist support to LGBTIQA+ folks experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence in Queensland.

If you need support to safety plan for this date, you are welcome to contact our Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence support team on 07 3111 6729 or [email protected]
(*this can be one off support to safety plan, or ongoing support if needed)

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, with this year's theme calling for everyone to be "All In for Reconciliation" - a call to all of us to commit to our part in reconciliation every day, not just in this week.

"All In" also reminds us that reconciliation is not and should not be the sole responsibility of First Nations People - it requires everyone to be all in. Learn more here: https://www.reconciliation.org.au/our-work/national-reconciliation-week/

Reconciliation is something that takes all of us, taking action and doing our part.

Today is National Sorry Day, marked on 26th May every year, to acknowledge the Stolen Generations and the significant harm and intergenerational impacts of forced removals of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families - as well as the tabling of the Bringing Them Home report and recommendations in 1997.

This year's theme, From Sorry To Action, reminds us all that sorry without action is not enough, and of an expectation that our governments take action as a priority to address harm caused and implement recommendations from Bringing Them Home. As individuals, groups and workplaces, we can ensure that we mark this date, and to learn about and know the truth telling and history shared by First Nations Peoples.

You can learn more here, at The Healing Foundations website, as well as find out about events in your area: https://healingfoundation.org.au/stolen-generations/national-sorry-day/

Bringing Them Home report: https://humanrights.gov.au/bringing-them-home/

A second milestone on this date occurred in 2017 when the Uluru Statement from the Heart was delivered, a document of consensus on constitutional recognition from over 1200 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives across the country.
