What a fantastic night at the 150th Ekka Show for the Fish Winners Presentation! 🎉

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along and helped make the night such a success. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces there supporting our hobby and our members. ❤️

A special thank you to QFAS for the fantastic new stand fronts — they looked amazing and really helped make the display stand out! 👏

Another thank you to the Judges that spend their time and expertise judging each tank on it quality of fish and layout of the tank.

And of course, a massive thank you to Bill for once again joining in and doing the presentations for the winners. Im sure it was really appreciated you being there and helping make the evening special. 🏆

We were also very proud to see three of our QCG committee members make it into the Winners Circle this year:

The Ekka is such a great opportunity to let people have a little peek into the world of fishkeeping, and it’s fantastic to see our members and entrants getting behind it and showing just how much there is to love about this hobby.

Hi everyone,

We wanted to share a new Australian aquarium marketplace that may be useful for members of the cichlid community:

FishClassifieds is a free Australian aquarium marketplace where hobbyists, breeders, businesses, and people rehoming fish can post listings for fish, shrimp, axolotls, plants, tanks, equipment, wanted ads, and more.

The site launched last month and has already grown to over 320 members, with new listings being posted regularly and many listings already sold through the platform.

There is already a lively cichlid community on FishClassifieds with a variety of cichlid listings across Queensland and wider Australia, and it would be great to see have members of QLD Cichlid Group Inc represented on there — whether you breed cichlids, have fish available, are looking for specific species or strains, or just want somewhere more organised to share aquarium listings.

FishClassifieds was started because Facebook can be tricky for animal listings, and posts often disappear down the feed quickly. FishClassifieds gives people one dedicated place to post listings, browse what’s available, connect with other members, and then share those listings back into Facebook groups if they want to.

The goal is to build the go-to marketplace for aquarium livestock and equipment in Australia — somewhere hobbyists, breeders, and businesses can easily find each other.

Feel free to check it out, post a listing, share it around, or send through any feedback as the platform continues to improve.

📢 Seller Letters for the July 18th Super Auction

Seller letters will be available from 12:00am on Thursday 18th June.

Don’t forget to schedule your email in advance if you are hoping for an early letter. It’s a great way to avoid staying up until midnight while ensuring your submission is sent as soon as seller letters open.

I’ve also attached the NEW Seller Rules Sheet for anyone who was unable to attend the June General Meeting. These new rules come into effect from the July Auction and will be strictly adhered to going forward.
Please take the time to read them carefully before submitting your seller letter to make sure you know the differences.
