🚨 THE QUEENSLAND CICHLID GROUP SUPER FISH AUCTION IS STILL GOING AHEAD! 🐟

Join us this Saturday, 24 October 2026, at Springwood Road State School. Auction starting at 4:00 pm.

The premises are dry and undercover, with plenty of parking close by. The area is flood-free and conveniently located just off the M1, making it easy to get to.

Come along for a great night featuring:

So I just found out we have these being sold (rare as hens teeth) at the super auction on Saturday…. Anyone want to take a guess at what the cartoon represents? And what they actually are? No cheating and checking the forum.

Sorry I have had to use ChatGPT, but I have heard today that Jewel Cichlids are now on the Noxious Fish List in Queensland and other States would need to be checked.

Due to the lists and legislation being so long, I have provided you with screen shots of what has been found. Anyone with them should contact Biosecurity as suggested.

“ Yes, Julie—in Queensland, jewel cichlids are currently prohibited. The legislation lists all non-native species of the genus Hemichromis as prohibited matter.

Queensland Government guidance says these prohibited aquarium fish must not be possessed, sold or brought into Queensland. Anyone who already has them should contact Biosecurity Queensland for advice”.
