One Step Forward

One Step Forward A place to talk, a place to share. A place to try and understand.

I read an article that says when someone is struggling, all they often need is 8 minutes with a friend to get back on track.

Never underestimate the power of reaching out when you’re struggling. I know it’s hard and we want to disappear. But just a few minutes with a friend could get you back on track.

I have 8 minutes for you.

Another young man I know has gone way too soon.

When will this epidemic of young men taking their life stop?

It’s ok to speak up and ask for help and still be a man.

Too many young lives ended because of the stigma that it’s weak to speak.

If you need to speak to someone - call Lifeline on 13 11 14

“Cherish the moments while they’re there.
Nothing lasts forever.”

It doesn’t make you any less of a man to speak about your feelings or something that has happened to you in the past.
It takes a real man to express himself
There is always someone that will listen - just reach out. ❤️

I didn't write this but wanted to share it as I feel it to my core

You Don’t Just Lose Someone Once —
You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up,
and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realisation hits home,
they are gone.
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn,
and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart,
they are gone.
Again.

Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.

Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realise,
they are gone,
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,
for a lifetime.
