Today, the Quilted Oyster Donna roadshow is in Sarina. A big thank you to Vince O'Hagan and Rick Ada, key volunteers at OzFish Unlimited - Central Moreton Bay Chapter, and to the Sarina Men's Shed. The men from the shed learned how to make QODs using the Garry technique. These QODs will be placed on rock walls near Hay Point, where they will provide new homes for shellfish and other animals, and help improve biodiversity, water quality, and fish populations. Thanks to Men's Sheds and OzFish Unlimited for their support. Vince O'Hagan Rick Ada OzFish Unlimited - Central Moreton Bay Chapter Men's Sheds OzFish Unlimited

The Quilted Oyster Donna road show continues, today we are in Australia's sugar capital, Mackay. Two of our dedicated reef restorers Vince O'Hagan and Rick Ada have made the journey north from Moreton Bay, to share their knowledge and spread the word that we need our shellfish reefs returned. We are lucky enough to be hosted by Iona West Men's shed who hope to do one working bee a week! Thanks so much to everyone involved, we can't wait to see these deployed and covered in life. And the road show continues! Today it was Emu Park Men's Sheds turn to have Garrry and Vince show them the ins and outs of how to make a Quilted Oyster Doona. This shed south of Yeppoon has a great bunch of can do legends. They are hoping to make QODs each week that, when deployed, will host thousands of oysters and other animals.

OzFish's Central Moreton Bay Chapter are Australia's experts at making shellfish reefs. This week, Vince and Garrry are on a road trip to spread their expertise. They are in Rockhampton today at the Rockhampton Men's shed, teaching them how to make Quilted Oyster Doonas (QODs). These QODs are set to be deployed on rock walls in the Yeppoon and Gladstone region to turn them into living sea walls. A massive thanks to Gladstone Men’s Shed and River Men's Shed for having us along and helping make our waterways cleaner and fishier. OzFish Unlimited

We are proud to have a team of committed volunteers. Their dedication to shellfish reef restoration is impressive, but they need the proper tools to assemble our baskets. Regrettably, our compressor and generator are not in working order. If anyone has a spare petrol compressor or generator, we would be thankful to borrow it. Thank you.

Following a fantastic International Women’s Day event on Friday, we had a brilliant turnout for our working bee this morning! 🌟
A massive shoutout to the 20-strong crew—many of our "blue shirts" backed up again, joined by some new heroes. Under perfect cool, clear skies, we spent the morning crafting "Stars" and "Cod Caves." 🛠️🐟
Huge thanks to Georgina and Gavin for the spectacular morning tea (lamingtons, dips, and fruit! 😋), and to Gary and Vince for leading a QOD (Quilted Oyster Doona) masterclass. Great to have Robbie P documenting the process to help other chapters build their own living seawalls. 📸
We wrapped up with a classic BBQ and great conversation under the trees. It was so pleasant, no one wanted to leave! Beautiful people doing beautiful work. 💙
