Inspiring Brighter Futures Foundation Inspiring Brighter Future’s purpose is to mentor, support and inspire people in our local communities.

Inspiring Brighter Futures Foundation is a non-profit organisation offering wellbeing mentoring programs for young people facing challenges, emerging student leaders and job seekers. For over a decade, we’ve helped thousands of people learn practical skills to improve their self-esteem, personal values, a growth mindset and resilience, and have encouraged them to set goals that they can apply in their everyday lives. We are passionate about making a real and positive difference to those who need a better future. We bring to life our mission of supporting and inspiring people in our local communities through our programs with support of our volunteer mentors.

Building connections that help create brighter pathways. 💙

Today, our Employment Pathways team, Michelle Thomson and Ray Ninnes, attended Get Seen, Get Connected, Meet the Buyer at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Hosted by the Queensland Government as part of Indigenous Business Month, the event brought together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses, buyers and industry representatives.

For IBFF, building relationships with businesses and industry is an important part of helping young people explore employment opportunities and access support as they transition into work.

Every young person deserves people in their corner and a pathway forward.

Across Term 3, our school programs brought together:
🎓 115 graduates
🏫 13 programs across 7 regions
🤝 99 mentors contributing 927 mentor hours

Behind these numbers are conversations, encouragement and trusted connections helping young people build confidence, discover their strengths and take their next steps.

We’re excited to share that Michelle Thomson has stepped into the role of Head of Employment Pathways at Inspiring Brighter Futures Foundation. 🧡

Michelle is overseeing the establishment and delivery of our Employment Pathways programs across Brisbane and Townsville. She is building connections with schools, employers and registered training organisations to help young people transition into apprenticeships and employment.

A key focus of Michelle’s work is connecting participants with the right opportunities and providing the mentoring, practical guidance and ongoing support they need to overcome barriers, stay engaged and succeed in the workplace.

The program has already supported 10 apprentices in Townsville and four in Brisbane, and we’re excited to see its reach and impact continue to grow under Michelle’s leadership.

We’re also looking to connect with employers and industry partners who may be able to offer employment or apprenticeship opportunities, workplace exposure, mentoring or industry guidance.

🌟 Exploring future possibilities at Hemmant Flexi School!

Students recently took part in career planning sessions with mentors from a wonderfully diverse range of backgrounds, including dance, acting, policing and the dog squad, childcare, plumbing, youth work and bird care.

These conversations gave students the opportunity to hear about different career journeys, ask questions and discover pathways they may not have considered before.

Your Time. Their Future.

As Term 3 comes to a close and we begin preparing for Term 4, why not make next term the one where you make a difference?

By giving just 70 minutes a week for eight weeks, you can become a trusted mentor to a young person, helping them build confidence, recognise their strengths and feel supported as they move onwards and upwards.

You don’t need special qualifications or all the answers. You simply need to listen, encourage and keep showing up.
