Queensland's coal sector is united in calling for an urgent review of current royalty settings, which are damaging industry confidence, threatening investment and jobs.

As the State Budget approaches we're asking political leaders to think long term to secure Queensland's future prosperity, which relies on a strong resources sector.

The world's highest coal royalty rates are holding Queensland back and will leave all Queenslanders worse off in the future.

A strong coal sector can deliver more royalties that benefit all of us.

Keeping Queensland moving one machine at a time

Say hi to Brad, Area Manager at Hastings Deering in Rockhampton.

From apprentice to area manager, Brad’s journey through the resources industry has been all about hard work, teamwork and giving back. When he’s not overseeing business operations or helping customers get back on track, you’ll find him at local schools for breakfast programs, mowing lawns, or cheering on the next generation at sports days.

For Brad, the resources industry isn’t just about machines - it’s about people, community and creating opportunities across Queensland.

This week our CEO Janette Hewson moderated the panel discussion at AmCham Australia's Business Series Lunch on a topic that's currently front and centre for our state and federal policy makers - energy security and the Taroom Trough.

The event speakers and panellists shared their insights on the scale of the opportunities and what's needed to attract the capital.

With global energy security back in focus, Queensland can play a critical role in strengthening Australia’s fuel security.

Rocky's resources rock.

The numbers speak for themselves, with the resources sector contributing $2.3 billion to the regional economy and supporting more than 12,900 local jobs in 2024-25*.

At Advance Rockhampton’s 'Grounded in Growth: Resources of Tomorrow', QRC’s Dr Leigh Stitz highlighted the sector’s resilience, including coal’s ongoing role alongside growing opportunities in gas and critical minerals across the Fitzroy region.

With new exploration activity underway, the next wave of development in Central Queensland is taking shape.
