The Filipino-Australian Foundation of Queensland Inc. (FAFQ) is a non-profit, charitable organization established in 1996 to serve as a central hub for Filipino communities in Queensland, Australia. Based in Coopers Plains, Brisbane, FAFQ offers a range of programs and services, including Filipino language classes, cultural events, and educational scholarships for students in both Australia and the Philippines. The foundation also organizes community events such as the annual Charity Queen Australia pageant, which supports various advocacies and fundraising initiatives

​Mauro Somodio is a Filipino-Australian community leader and philanthropist based in Brisbane, Queensland. He is the founding president and current secretary of the Filipino-Australian Foundation of Queensland Inc. (FAFQ), a non-profit organization established in 1996 to support Filipino migrants and promote cultural heritage in Australia .​

A graduate of Central Philippine University (CPU) with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1973, Somodio was a working student during his university years. His personal experiences inspired him to establish the FAFQ Grant-In-Aid Scholarship in 1997, aimed at assisting underprivileged but deserving students from the Western Visayas region of the Philippines . To date, this program has supported over 300 scholars across the Philippines.​

Beyond his philanthropic efforts, Somodio has been instrumental in promoting CPU internationally, encouraging students from countries like Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to pursue education at the university . He also actively participates in community events, such as leading free legal seminars for the Filipino community in Queensland .​

Somodio's dedication to community service and education has made him a respected figure among Filipino-Australians, embodying the values of hard work and compassion.
