TBF welcomes the Queensland Government’s $500 million commitment to put Queensland kids first. It is great to see a focus on increased support for early childhood development through education, health, and community-based initiatives. We encourage all political parties to make early childhood development a key priority.

TBF was thrilled to be part of the Early Years Strategy launch yesterday, alongside Ministers Amanda Rishworth MP and Anne Aly, as well as our fellow Advisory Panel members. This Strategy is about setting a clear direction for the future and better supporting Australian families and children to thrive. The first five years of a child’s life are critically important - 90 percent of brain development happens during this time - which is why it is vital that we take an integrated, evidence-based approach to early years policy, funding and programs.

Last week the Queensland Government launched their Puttling Queensland Kids First package and here at The Bryan Foundation we’re pretty excited about it.

The package aims to build a comprehensive child development system from pregnancy & birth right through to the toddler and school years.

The Government is seeking ideas and reflections on the proposed package by 21 February. We will certainly be providing ours. And you should too, because designing policy and programs to support our children requires a diverse range of perspectives.

You can find out more and have your say on the proposed package here:

“When families do well, children do well.” Which is why we, as part of the Thrive by Five Queensland Alliance, are calling on all parties to deliver an Early Years Plan ahead of the state election, to ensure all children in Queensland have the opportunity to thrive. Add your name to the open letter to the Queensland State Parliament!

Yesterday we attended the launch of the Thrive by Five Campaign in Queensland - an alliance which has come together to support actions Queensland can take to give every child the best start in life. Good to see Education Minister Grace Grace MP, Shadow Minister Amanda Camm MP and Greens Education spokesperson Amy MacMahon - Greens MP for South Brisbane there as well 👏🏼

Last month we had the opportunity to catch up with the team from Inklings Program at the Woodridge North Integrated Services Hub. Inklings runs an innovative evidence-based program that involves early identification and support for infants showing developmental differences. We shared insights and talked about how, with the support of The Bryan Foundation, their approach could be replicated in hubs and early years settings.

Last Friday, we joined Queensland Treasurer, Cameron Dick MP at Kingston State School to mark the beginning of construction of a new administration building and community hub.

This purpose built facility will provide vital services and resources to families through FamilyLinQ, a new collaboration between the Queensland Government, philanthropy, and key partners.

Have you seen the news? The Australian Government has announced an Investment Dialogue for Australia's Children - a joint initiative between philanthropy, government, and communities to tackle entrenched disadvantage and improve outcomes for children across the country.

Treasurer, Jim Chalmers MP, said that, "There's a strong appetite in the philanthropic community to partner with government to ensure funding is getting where it's needed most."

And we couldn't agree more. The Bryan Foundation is proud to be a part of this team effort to make meaningful change.
