Have you ever felt invisible, or worse still, the object of everyone’s contempt?
This is how it feels to be HIV+. The HIV infection rate still sits at 10-15% in sub-Saharan Africa and brings with it, huge stigma in the community.
Having lived with this and understanding what it does to your mental health, a lady started the Alpha Teens group. This group’s aim is to provide an environment where young, HIV+ people can feel safe and supported.
As part of this group in Matapos, they learn skills to earn income, access food where needed, are listened to by others who have the same experience but without the judgement.
Their motto is ‘I’m HIV+, So What!’

42 Children. One Community. New Hope.
Thanks to Brisbane Northside Rotary, 42 orphaned children in rural Zimbabwe are finally moving from the pictured chicken coop into safe, dignified housing — with beds linen, tables, chairs and cooking essentials now on the way.
💙 This is Rotary changing lives. 💙 This is what community looks like.

In our 2026 Vacation With a Purpose, we did so much.
In Matopos we filled potholes in the road, built firebreaks, weighed goats, welded gates, fixed goat shelters, built new reports …
In the Sandra Jones Centre (orphanage) we painted a pantry, played with the kids, pruned tomatoes in one of the greenhouses, taught knitting
In Worrington we built a play are with a huge caterpillar made from used tyres, hopscotch. place built a swing and a jungle gym, painted the poles in the covered play area.
Then we relaxed in Hwange National Park. Look at these amazing photos of the animals we saw.
