Peter was just 29 when he passed away from a brain tumour linked to his 8 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy.

His wife, Rebecca, was suddenly left to navigate overwhelming grief while raising their two young children, four-year-old Will and seven-month-old Ella.

One of Peterโ€™s final wishes was for Rebecca to contact Legacy. She did, and the very next day, a Legacy volunteer was on her doorstep.

That visit marked the beginning of a relationship that would support Rebecca, Will and Ella through some of lifeโ€™s hardest moments and continue as the children grew.

This Legacy Week, your gift can help Legacy be there for another veteranโ€™s family when they need us most.

$45,645 raised at the 2026 Legacy Sports Brunch! ๐Ÿ‰

Yesterday, Brisbane's business and veteran communities came together at the Qld Cricketers' Club, The Gabba for an incredible morning in support of the families of our veterans.

We heard from sporting greats Kevin Sheedy AO, Simon Black, Corey McKernan and Lauren Dam, expertly moderated by Michael Crutcher, with our wonderful MC Carly Box guiding us through the morning.

A particularly special moment came from Gabrielle Tochterman, who generously shared her family's story and their experience with Legacy, with her daughter Brooke also joining us on the day. Thank you, Gabrielle, for trusting us with your story. ๐Ÿ’›

Our guests also raised nearly $7,000 through the raffle alone, with incredible prizes generously donated by loans.com.au and Tangalooma Island Resort.

A huge thank you to our Platinum Partners BMD Group and Rheinmetall, Gold Sponsor Harwell Home Care and Silver Sponsor APGC, and to every guest, speaker, donor and supporter who made the morning possible.

Thank you, Brisbane! ๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŒฟ Another incredible Backyard Assist complete! ๐Ÿ’™

A huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to help transform beneficiary Irene's home, including the amazing teams from Sci-Fleet Toyota, the Royal Australian Air Force, and our dedicated Legacy Brisbane staff.

In just one day, the team removed years' worth of hard rubbish from beneath Irene's home, completely removed a huge mulberry tree (roots and all), trimmed overgrown trees and bushes, and mowed, edged, whipper-snipped and weeded the yard.

The transformation was about so much more than tidying a garden. Irene can now safely access parts of her yard that had become overgrown, enjoy more natural light in her home, worry less about snakes and rodents, and even sit on her front veranda with a cup of tea again after years of it being filled with stored belongings.

There were plenty of smiles throughout the day too. One of our favourite moments was when Irene jokingly asked the RAAF Amberley personnel if she could have her own uniform!

Watching Irene stand on her veranda, smiling as the final skips were collected, reminded us exactly why Backyard Assist matters. She shared that she felt "blessed" and was overwhelmed by how quickly everything had been achieved.

Thank you to everyone who got their hands dirty and made such a meaningful difference. Together, you're helping veterans' families reclaim their homes, their independence and their peace of mind.
