Self-fertile doesn’t mean bee-free!

A two-year study of the self-fertile Independence almond variety found that trees accessible to honey bees had greater nut set and higher yields, with research pointing to one hive per acre as an optimal stocking rate.

Even self-fertile almonds benefit from the work of honey bees.
