A racing pigeon from the Philippines has made headlines after being found more than 4,800 kilometers away in India — months after it went missing during a race.

The bird, believed to have joined a long-distance race across the sea, was reported missing shortly after takeoff. Months later, it was discovered in a small village in India, exhausted but alive. Locals were surprised to learn the pigeon had traveled such a great distance — crossing borders and vast bodies of water.

Experts say strong winds or storms may have caused the pigeon to lose its way. Despite the incredible journey, the bird is now safe and being cared for by pigeon fancier while efforts are made to identify its owner in the Philippines.

Good evening to all Breeders particpating in the NRC Breeders Plate and State of Origin races being flown from Morven this weekend (6/9/2025), a distance of circa 600km. The conditions look pretty tough with head and side winds.

The entries for both the Breeders Plate and State of Origin follow.
