If Whitehaven Wi******er South coal mine goes ahead, all the mine's coal would be for export and -
🏭 Generate 583 million tonnes of climate pollution
💧 Drain 280 million litres of groundwater *a year*
🌳 Clear 2,000 hectares of threatened species habitat.

Happening now! We're in court for the closing of our case against Whitehaven Coal from opening the nation's next largest coal project - Wi******er South.

If it goes ahead, all the mine's coal would be for export and -
🏭 Generate 557 million tonnes of climate pollution
💧 Drain up to 280 million litres of groundwater *a year*
🌳 Clear 2,000 hectares of threatened species habitat.

With rolling heatwaves and record-breaking heat in spring, we can't afford any new fossil fuel projects.

BREAKING: We found Environment Minister Watt spruiking his failed environment laws in Brisbane and asked when his Government going to stop approving coal and gas mines that are turbocharging the climate crisis!? It doesn’t seem he has an answer.

An important update from Gurridyula Gaba Wunggu , W & J Cultural Custodian who is reoccupying his homelands on Adani's mining lease as part of an ongoing cultural ceremony - Waddananggu.

"Last month, while we were maintaining a fire break down by the creek, other fires were lit up right behind our camp).

To keep Waddananggu going, I am asking for your help. A replacement fire fighting/water trailer and equipment is needed urgently!

We managed to save our sleeping and living areas, but unfortunately lost two vehicles and two trailers in the fire.

This month our family have two legal cases fronting court to stop Adani from taking coal, poisoning springs and being racially discriminative against my family.
We’ve had some rough times, but with our sacred springs at stake, we can't give up now.

We have 40+ degree heat continuing now.

💥 Snap action! 💥 Community members in Brisbane/Magandjin have rallied outside Renee Coffey - Labor Member for Griffith's offfice in response to Friday’s approval of Woodside’s massive north west shelf gas project in WA.

Instead of standing with Murujuga Traditional Owners and the community demanding climate action, the Australian Labor Party have betrayed us and given the green light to the largest fossil fuel project in the southern hemisphere. Shame Labor Shame!

The Anthony Albanese Gov has approved ANOTHER coal mine - Glencore’s Ulan thermal coal mine expansion, near Mudgee in NSW. Australian communities and natural environments are suffering the devastating impacts of climate change. Approving new coal and gas will make these devastating events even worse. Whitehaven Coal wants to build Australia’s biggest coal mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, a proposal that would generate at least 583 million tonnes of climate pollution and destroy at least 2,000 hectares of threatened species habitat.

Australian Conservation Foundation and the Mackay Conservation Group are at the Queensland Land Court for the few weeks to argue that the mine should not go ahead.

As a major coal project seeking approval, Whitehaven’s Wi******er South coal mine is the ultimate test for the Labor Government on climate change. If the Albanese Labor Government is serious about acting on climate change, they must stop approving new coal and gas projects, starting with Whitehaven Coal’s Wi******er South coal project.
