Therese and I had the pleasure yesterday of joining members from Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT , Lions Club of Inala Inc. , Brisbane Pinelands Lions and Lions Club of Sunnybank Inc. for a fundraiser for the RBWH Foundation. It was also an opportunity to promote and try Taiwanese Black Bear Rice - a premium rice with a lovely flavour. The generosity of the Taiwanese community resulted in a donation of over $40, 000.00 for the hospital. The chef at 百家千味 Glamorous Wok did a fabulous job - Taiwanese street food style. Absolutely delicious and can highly recommend. None of us left hungry.

Thank you to Lions Pearl, Lawrance and Sam from Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese for the kind invitation. We had a lovely afternoon.

Anzac Day is a quiet, solemn reminder that the freedoms we live with each day were not freely given, but earned through courage, sacrifice, and an unthinkable cost. It asks us to pause and remember those who stepped forward in times of war, who endured hardship, fear, and loss, and who, in far too many cases, never came home.

Their stories are woven into the fabric of our lives, shaping the peace and security we often take for granted. We owe a profound debt to those who served and to those who gave everything - our lives today are, in so many ways, the legacy of their bravery, their mateship, and their ultimate sacrifice.

Therese and I made a visit to Bunnings Manly West today to support Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT, who took up the challenge of organising a last minute bbq after the original group cancelled yesterday. Great teamwork and enthusiasm contributed to a successful and fun day for their Club. 👍👍👍

We had an enjoyable couple of hours today at the Brisbane Pinelands Lions celebration for their Pinelands Centenary Festival - the 100th Anniversary of the Lions Pinelands Hall. Whilst there, it was great to see fellow Lions promoting our District and National youth and sight projects.

We also caught up with our friends from Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT, who were promoting their environmental initiatives - eye glasses recycling, Containers for Change can and bottle recycling and their Charity Train, where donated used items are passed on to new owners for a small donation which goes back to the Community. Therese and I always love their enthusiasm for different types of service to ultimately serve our Community.

Well done to Pinelands Lions for organising a great Community celebration.

We enjoyed Sunday morning meeting up with members of Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT for Clean Up Australia Day followed by a Community bbq. Club President Lion Pearl Chen and her members are passionate about environmental projects, and always take the opportunity to promote Containers for Change QLD and Lions Recycle for Sight when participating in other projects.

We were also joined by Councillor Kim Marx, who along with Lion Pearl unveiled the new sign at the park, which the Club has adopted. Congratulations - what a wonderful way to get your Club name out in the Community.

Thank you to Cr Kim Marx for assisting in the park adoption process and thank you to the Club for a very enjoyable and productive morning.

Members from our Club were given the opportunity to put forward their ideas for service at a social catch up this morning, including a potential member who will now be joining us.

When members are given the opportunity to share and put forward their own ideas for service projects, it fosters a feeling of inclusion, respect, and collaboration. Being genuinely listened to encourages members to take ownership of initiatives they are passionate about, strengthening their commitment to the Club. When people feel valued and heard, they're more engaged, more enthusiastic, and more willing to contribute their time and talents. This sense of belonging naturally leads to happier members, stronger teamwork, and a more vibrant, effective club serving its community.

Does your Club set aside time to hear ideas for possible projects that your members are passionate about?

We had a very enjoyable social get-together this morning for breakfast/morning tea where we also took the opportunity to put forward ideas for projects this year.

It was great to hear everyone's ideas and we look forward to putting them in motion over the coming months.
