With Childhood Cancer being one of our important pillars, it was wonderful to have the opportunity this morning to volunteer for the Run 2 Cure, which raises funds for Neuroblastoma research. Many of the entrants had lost a child or were supporting a family who had experienced such a devastating diagnosis, turning up in costumes and bringing along a great vibe to honour and celebrate loved ones.

Well done Brisbane for supporting this important cause.

P.S. I assure you that the pic on the blow up arch (which we were trying to deflate) was all work - no play (but a laugh at the same time).

We had a very enjoyable evening last night, joining members from the Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT, at a Gala charity dinner for the Loving Care Group. It was wonderful to see so many important charities being supported with donations over the evening.

It was wonderful to see so many community groups, organisations and individuals come together to learn more about the incredible work being done by Wynnum Community Place and Redland Community Centre.

Hearing about the wide range of programmes and support they provide to people experiencing hardship was both inspiring and a reminder that when communities work together, we can make a real difference.

If your Lions Club hasn't already connected with the community centres in your local area, I'd encourage you to reach out. You may be surprised at the many ways your club can support their programmes, whether through volunteering, donations, fundraising, or partnering on community projects. Together, we can achieve so much more for those who need it most. 💙🦁

I was honoured tonight to attend the Changeover of Brisbane Holland Park Lions and present a Melvin Jones Fellow award to a very special lady and a wonderful supporter of their Club. Congratulations to Judy Croll for your many years of hard work and support for this great Club. Very well deserved - Therese and I were pleased to be a part of your special night.

Also congratulations to Club President Ian Dillon and all members for a very productive year and all the best for 2026-27.

Therese and I had the pleasure of joining members from the Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT on the weekend, where they were meeting for their AGM and discussing plans for the next year.

They're a very active Club, whose success comes from the advance planning of events for the next 12 months, along with enthusiasm from their members together with their families.

Well done to Club President Lion Pearl Chen and all the members, working together to ensure the Club is happy and successful.

Therese and I had the pleasure yesterday of joining members from Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT , Lions Club of Inala Inc. , Brisbane Pinelands Lions and Lions Club of Sunnybank Inc. for a fundraiser for the RBWH Foundation. It was also an opportunity to promote and try Taiwanese Black Bear Rice - a premium rice with a lovely flavour. The generosity of the Taiwanese community resulted in a donation of over $40, 000.00 for the hospital. The chef at 百家千味 Glamorous Wok did a fabulous job - Taiwanese street food style. Absolutely delicious and can highly recommend. None of us left hungry.

Thank you to Lions Pearl, Lawrance and Sam from Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese for the kind invitation. We had a lovely afternoon.

Anzac Day is a quiet, solemn reminder that the freedoms we live with each day were not freely given, but earned through courage, sacrifice, and an unthinkable cost. It asks us to pause and remember those who stepped forward in times of war, who endured hardship, fear, and loss, and who, in far too many cases, never came home.

Their stories are woven into the fabric of our lives, shaping the peace and security we often take for granted. We owe a profound debt to those who served and to those who gave everything - our lives today are, in so many ways, the legacy of their bravery, their mateship, and their ultimate sacrifice.

Very proud of our team this weekend, volunteering over Sat and Sun for the Tour de Brisbane. It was great to meet and have a chat with many of the entrants and other volunteers. Over 6000 entrants took part in the race through our beautiful city.

Therese and I made a visit to Bunnings Manly West today to support Lions Club of Brisbane Taiwanese 布里斯本台灣人獅子會 LCBT, who took up the challenge of organising a last minute bbq after the original group cancelled yesterday. Great teamwork and enthusiasm contributed to a successful and fun day for their Club. 👍👍👍
