Food For Kids 🍎🥪 is more than a program….it’s a community.

Starting in Term 1, we’ve seen new volunteers step in and become part of the Food For Kids team, helping deliver food items to local schools. It’s been such a joy watching people connect, serve together, and grow into this space.

From purchasing food items to packing and deliveries, Food For Kids truly runs on community. We’ve loved seeing it in action…from the young girls carefully scanning food items and asking what they were all for, to the volunteers who have gathered yjis term to ensure children are cared for and supported.

We also want to take a moment to thank Deb Mills as she hands things over. Deb has invested so much time, care and heart into Food For Kids over the past couple of years, and her willingness to show the ropes and support new team members has laid such a strong foundation for this season.

There are so many ways you can be part of Axis’ Food For Kids:

Last fruit delivery for 2025. Thank you for your generosity and support this year. We’ve given out almost 2 tonnes of fruit and plenty of other food supplies to students in the Moreton Bay region. We couldn’t do it without you!

We’re 3 weeks into term 4. Where did the year go?! Thank you for your continued support to provide fresh fruit and other food to our local schools. Food insecurity in schools is a huge issue, and while we can’t solve the problem, we can play a small part in helping to meet a need.

A big thank you to everyone who came along to the 7th annual Food for Kids trivia night! From testing everyone's brainpower to standout costumes, it was a fun evening raising funds to support the kids in our local schools. Thank you!

For those coming along to the trivia night THIS Saturday, here are some FAQ:

🎥Is there a theme?
A: Yes! This year's theme is 'A night at the movies'.

😎Do I have to dress up?
A: No. Dressing up is optional. BUT there will be prizes for best-dressed, and best-themed table. Plus, it's always a lot of fun to dress up!

⏰What time does it start?
A: Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.

🍿Will there be food available?
A: Snacks will be available for purchase. You're welcome to BYO food as well. (Please note: this is a non-alcoholic event).

👶Will there be childminding?
A: No. This is a family-friendly event, but unfortunately, we can't provide childminding at this event.

🪑Do I need to book a whole table?
A: No. You can join a table on the night. It will be a great way to meet new people and work together to win some great prizes!

🎫 Are there tickets still available?
A: Yes! But it would be really helpful if you could book by Wednesday, 17th!

It's been a busy start to the school year - with plenty of deliveries going out to the schools over the past 2 days, and more to go out tomorrow.

Teachers, chaplains, and other school staff do an amazing job in running breakfast and lunch clubs for students attending school with no food. It really is eye-opening and heartbreaking to hear the stories of families going without. Thank you for your ongoing support - what a privilege it is to help meet a need in these kids' lives.
