After meeting a large group of Mt Maria College Mitchelton year 12 students at one of our Brookside Shopping Centre swabbing events, we were so excited to be welcomed into their school to present to the rest of their year 11 and 12 cohorts.

No PowerPoint to go with Bronwyn’s presentation but that didn’t stop the students from engaging and learning all about stem cell donation 🔥

On Friday we had the pleasure to visit Churchie

We are so grateful to be invited into such a welcoming school environment and we thank Churchie so much for your support and the opportunity for us to share about stem cell donation!

A huge shout out and thank you to nodo® Camp Hill for providing some tasty treats as a bonus for the young men who signed up to potentially save a life one day 🍩

It’s so important to be educating the next generation while they are at the beginning of the 17-35 year age bracket for registration. More time on the registry = more time being available to save someone’s life!

Once again a HUGE thanks to Churchie and nodo® we couldn’t be making the Stem Cell Donors Australia registry grow without support from amazing people and teams in the community like you 💙

An urgent worldwide search is underway to find a stem cell donor for Rowan Tong-Law registerforrowan who was in his first year studying Physiotherapy at UQ when he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. A six month course of chemotherapy hasn’t worked, and his only chance now is a stem cell transplant, with doctors believing a Eurasian donor, reflecting his mother’s Chinese heritage and father’s Scottish and English heritage, offers the best chance.

I had the privilege of meeting Bronwyn, Rowan’s mother who generously gave her time to raise awareness of the search to all Brisbane City Councillors in the Chamber.

If your community group, workplace or local organisation would like to host a swab event to help spread the word and encourage others to join the stem cell donor registry, please get in touch.

In the meantime, I’d encourage anyone aged 17 to 35 to consider registering. It takes only a minute, and for someone like Rowan, it could be life changing.

We’re joining forces with Stem Cell Donors Australia to help find a life-saving match for Rowan Tong-Law, and we need our community’s help.

✅ If you’re aged 17–35 and hold a Medicare card, you may be eligible to join the Australian stem cell donor registry
📅 Visit us outside Brooklyn Donuts: Friday 4 September | 1pm–4pm
Saturday 5 September | 11am–2pm
✅ Register by completing a simple online form and cheek swab

➕ Eligible participants who register and complete their cheek swab will receive a FREE Brooklyn Donut* 🍩
