🚜 50 BORROWS. And still going strong.

This little John Deere tractor joined Play Matters Toy Library in February 2022.

This month, it celebrated its 50th borrow! 🎉

And if you look closely, you can see that it’s been very well loved along the way (current photo in the comments). There are a few battle scars, some signs of serious playtime and plenty of evidence that this tractor has had a busy four and a half years. ❤️

And all four of its little farm animals are still here! 🐄🐖🐑🐐

After being borrowed by 50 different families, every single one has made it home again with the tractor.

This is the power of a Toy Library.

A toy doesn't need to be brand new to be valuable. In fact, sometimes the signs of use are the best part — they show just how much play a toy has provided.

Instead of sitting in one family's home until it's outgrown, this tractor has had the chance to be enjoyed by dozens of children over and over again.

We often hear that play is how children make sense of the world.

But really, it's how they make sense of their world. 💛

The world as they experience it. Their interests, their questions, their friendships, their challenges, their big ideas and everyday discoveries.

That's why no two children play exactly the same way.

One child might spend an hour lining up toy cars. Another might create an elaborate dinosaur adventure. Another might build the same tower over and over again just to see what happens.

And that's the point.

Play isn't about doing things the "right" way. It's about giving children the freedom to explore, experiment, imagine and learn in ways that make sense to them.

Because when children play, they're not just having fun. They're figuring out who they are and how they fit into the world around them.

✨ This is Toy Library magic.

This LeapFrog AlphaPup was added to our collection in October 2021.

Since then?

39 loans.

That means 39 times a child (or family!) has taken this toy home and had the opportunity to play with it.

One toy. Almost five years. Dozens of families.

And this is exactly why toy libraries matter. ❤️

When we share toys, we extend their useful lives and make the most of the resources that have already been produced. Instead of every family needing to buy every toy they might want to try, one toy can be enjoyed by many.

It’s sustainable play in action. ♻️

So the next time you borrow a toy, remember: you’re not just taking something home.

You’re helping a toy keep playing. 🥰
