Today is Census Day. The census is held every 5 years and helps build a picture of our communities. It informs decisions by government and other agencies about the services and support people need.
- Most people will already have received their forms via mail or MyGov
- You can complete the Census online
- Paper forms are available on request
- Everyone staying in your home on Census night should be included, including children, babies and visitors
- Support is available if you need help completing your Census
- The census is compulsory and fines can be issued if it is not completed.
For more information or to access support, visit https://info.census.abs.gov.au/ or call the Census Contact Centre directly on 1800 181 227.
The Census is the most comprehensive snapshot of Australia. The Australian Bureau of Statistics conducts the Census every five years.
