Don't forget that Wednesday 13th August is Ekka Show Day, a public holiday as per our EBA (6.2.1(j). Here's what you need to know:

6.2.10 Payment for Work Done On Public Holidays

Full-time or part-time employees

All work done by a full-time or part-time employee during the employee’s ordinary shift on a public holiday, or the nominated substituted day as per clause 6.2.2, will be paid at 200% of the base rate of pay.

Casual employees required to work ordinary hours on public holidays shall be paid 250% of the base rate of pay, with no casual loading. Overtime worked on public holidays will be paid at 250% of the base rate of pay, with casual loading being a total of 273%.

All overtime on a public holiday will be paid at 250% of the base rate of pay.

6.2.9 Not required on a public holiday after being rostered to work
Where a permanent employee is rostered to work on a public holiday and following a review of staffing needs within 7 days before the public holiday, is found not to be required, the
employee may agree to have the day off and be paid for the public holiday not worked, or elect to attend work as rostered and perform such work as may be reasonably directed by the Employer.

Three years ago today QNMU Greenslopes Branch members rallied outside Greenslopes Private Hospital to vent their anger at Ramsay Healthcare not willing to negotiate the EBA and having only offered us a 1% pay increase during COVID, as they said they "couldn't afford" to pay us any more, despite HUGE payments from the Federal government during COVID. The CEO of the Company, Mr Craig McNally had received a $3million pay increase the same year.

Know your penalty rates for this Easter and remember part 6.2.9 of the Ramsay Healthcare EBA:

6.2.9 Not required on a public holiday after being rostered to work

Where a permanent employee is rostered to work on a public holiday and following a review of staffing needs within 7 days before the public holiday, is found not to be required, the
employee may agree to have the day off and be paid for the public holiday not worked, or elect to attend work as rostered and perform such work as may be reasonably directed by the
Employer.

This means they had to give you notice seven days ago to be stood down. If you are called and asked if you want the day off, you can accept the day off and be paid for the holiday not worked (DO NOT SAY YOU WANT TO TAKE ANNUAL LEAVE), refuse to have the day off and they must accept your decision, but may pool you.

If you are pooled, ensure that the place you are to be pooled to is within your recency of practice.
