Nexus Care is a not-for-profit Public Benevolent Organisation (with Deductible Gift Recipient status) responsible for providing a wide range of support programs to north Brisbane communities.

WE NEED YOUR HELP 🙏🏻 Laura Jessie Lois is donating one of these incredible pieces of her art for auction at Cisco’s Art of Giving fundraiser at The Hills of Rivermakers on November 20 and we can’t pick! Which artwork should we auction off?

We’re so excited to showcase this Brisbane-based contemporary artist’s work which captures the nostalgia of Australian summers and the beauty of everyday moments.

Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, her figurative paintings explore themes of connection, leisure and cherished memories.

Through playful compositions, considered colour palettes and subtle textures, Laura evokes a sense of warmth, familiarity and the simple joy of slowing down.

Drum roll, please… 🥁 Meet the 2026 Westfield Chermside Local Hero, our very own Suki O’Dea!

Thanks to your incredible support and votes, Suki has been awarded a $20,000 grant from Westfield for our Fresh Start Food Program, helping us provide almost 40,000 meals to households doing it tough 🥹

And here’s something pretty amazing… according to Westfield, their location received the highest number of votes for any centre ever…you all truly went above and beyond, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

A huge shout-out to our fellow finalists, Mia from Ollie’s Echo and Carolina from Commonkind…both do incredible work in our community, and we’re so proud to stand alongside them.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to Westfield Australia and all of our beautiful community for getting behind Suki and helping us make an even bigger difference for those that need it most 💙

We’ve got 4,700 reasons to say THANK YOU! 🌭💙

Yesterday’s Bunnings sausage sizzle raised an incredible $4,700, which means we can provide 9,400 meals to people who need them most.

A huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers who gave up their Saturday to serve their local community, including team members from Cisco and Stay Balanced Physiotherapy. We couldn’t do it without you!

And a massive shout-out to Stay Balanced Physiotherapy for backing our BBQ once again, helping us make sure more funds go directly towards supporting those who need it most.

Finally, thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Australia in Stafford for having us and helping make it all happen! 🫶🏻

Love art and want to help feed your local community? 💙

This incredible ‘Blush + Gold’ artwork, generously donated by Brisbane artist Beth Kennedy, will be up for auction at The Art of Giving, Cisco ’s special fundraiser supporting Nexus Care’s Fresh Start Food Program at The Hills of Rivermakers on November 20.

Glowing colours, layers of paint, wobbly willow charcoal lines and thicker stripes drawn in rose ochre oil stick all come together in Beth Kennedy’s joyful painting ‘Blush + Gold’, to create a feeling of golden light and warmth.

This painting is inspired by the work of illustrators of the Golden Age of Illustration (1874 - 1920) most notably the work of Danish artist Kay Nielsen. Kennedy’s intention when creating this work was to capture the feeling of a breath inhaled and the feeling of warm sunlight on the skin during golden hour when the light is beautiful.

This 100 x 100cm canvas comes framed in oak, ready to hang and make your home look beautiful.

Throughout the evening, artworks created by our Therapeutic Art participants, alongside pieces from other talented local artists will also be available to bid on at auction.

Save the date! Cisco is hosting The Art of Giving, a special community impact fundraiser supporting Nexus Care and families and individuals experiencing hardship.

Set against the backdrop of the Brisbane river at The Hills of Rivermakers in Morningside, The Art of Giving will be a golden evening celebrating art, community and impact.

Throughout the evening, artworks created by our beautiful Therapeutic Art participants, alongside pieces from talented local artists including Beth Kennedy, Laura Jessie Lois and Peta Turner Art, will be available to bid on at auction.

Every bid will help raise vital funds for our Fresh Start Food Program, supporting the community into 2027.
