Bach Unwrapped | 20–30 March 2026 is a 10-day, 10-event mini-festival and micro-tour celebrating the music of Johann Sebastian Bach across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with events in Woombye, Eumundi, Eudlo and Cooroy.

Led by cellist Louise King (Cello Dreaming) and guest violinist Margaret Blades, the program brings audiences up close to Bach’s music in small halls, studios, cafes, parks and hinterland venues. Performances feature solo violin (Partita in E major), solo cello (Suite in C major) and Bach duo works, alongside emerging artist masterclasses and free online Bach At Lunch Instagram LIVE sessions.

Across the 10 days audiences can experience intimate concerts, masterclasses, a studio session, Bach in the Park, Bach at the Barn, Bach at The Nook in the Noosa Hinterland and a final Bach & Brunch gathering at Eudlo General Store.

What a wonderful experience for the Queensland recorder community at the weekend workshop with Kamala Bain! With over 40 players attending both days, we successfully navigated 10 challenging works from composers including Vivaldi, Gabrieli, Teschner and Rheinberger as well as the uplifting Uxolo by Soren Sieg. A huge thank you to our incredible tutor Kamala who was always focused, patient and encouraging, leaving us all amazed at what we were capable of achieving together. Well done to everyone for the hard work and commitment! 🎶

Margaret Caley is a Brisbane-based violinist and music educator, specialising in Baroque violin performance. She performs chamber music with ensembles including Austral Harmony and Arioso Chamber Ensemble, who appear regularly in the 4MBS Festival of Classics .

Margaret's current teaching focus is on adult learners of violin and viola. She studied baroque violin with Lucy van Dael at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, The Netherlands, after completing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in violin performance in Australia with Spiros Rantos, Tor Fromhyr and Jan Sedivka. From 2012 to 2025 she was employed as an Instrumental Music Teacher (Strings) by Education Queensland.

Margaret has had a long-time involvement with the Early Music Society of Queensland, which will be presenting a recorder workshop on 7-8 March 2026 with renowned New Zealand based recorder player Kamala Bain. More info: emsq.org.au

Hear Margaret talk to 4MBS Broadcasts Manager Peter McCahon about her music career and love of early music. Interspersed throughout the interview will be some of Margaret's favourite classical music, including Mascagni's 'Intermezzo' from 'Cavaleria rusticana', Mozart’s 'Violin Sonata in B-flat major, K. 454 1st movement', Monteverdi's 'Si dolce e’l tormento' and more!

Bookings for the Recorder Workshop with Kamala Bain on 7-8 March are now open!

We welcome all recorder players for a wonderful weekend of music making under the expert guidance of renowned recorder player, teacher and workshop presenter, Kamala Bain. If you have been to one of Kamala's workshops before you will know what a vibrant, knowledgeable and exciting tutor she is.

We ask that participants are able to play at least two sizes of recorder, eg soprano and tenor, but not necessarily the two different fingerings.

Music will be sent out in advance to give you a chance to become somewhat familiar with it before the workshop.

It is a two day workshop, but if you are not able to attend both days you are welcome to come for one day only.
