2025 Australian Pontiac Nationals

When you have to organise a National car meet, you have a choice. Do you want a memorable event, or a forgettable one? If you want a memorable one, that's where Lakeside Park comes in. When it came to the planning the 2025 Pontiac Nationals nothing even came close. What we demonstrated through our day at Lakeside Park was ideal for any National car meet. A tailor-made hire for a show n' shine in the pits area with the cafe in the middle, followed by a group photo shoot and social track time. For some hires the track time includes competitive drag racing or roll racing, or timed events like a regularity rally. And there's still the short-course Driver Training Centre out the back with lots of options here including its skid pan. The Lakeside team will deliver for you something very memorable that your entrants will be talking about for a long time. Ours will be. Lakeside in 2025 is 'still making memories'.

Our night functions at the Nationals featured a 200 inch big screen that we constructed. It was a great way to entertain the entrants with a variety of Pontiac content including our own prepared material and footage from the day's activities. We also included some other interesting content off the www like this game show featuring a 1966 Pontiac GTO as the major prize. Did she win it? Watch and see:

One of the great things about the Nationals is that with so many Pontiacs there, you get rare photo opportunities of combinations and groups you wouldn't see elsewhere. For example, the Monkeemobile, KITT and Bandit, our 'star cars'. Or what about 'tri-five' Pontiacs - 55, 56 and 57? Three 69 GTOs was another one we staged later that day.

Our Nationals night functions took full advantage of the 200 inch screen we had fabricated to present a wide range of material to entrants - a real Pontiac Film Festival. A number of slideshows were also prepared including this one covering Australian Pontiac Nationals events back to the first in 1988. It has been uploaded here in reduced size and with no sound, but can be stopped for a better view at any scene. At this stage the 2025 Nationals was still in progress but has produced many memorable scenes which can be added to this as the legacy of great Pontiac events continues in Australia!

The 2025 Pontiac Nationals has been and gone and although the weather tried hard to spoil the weekend, the event was an overwhelming success with the biggest showing of Pontiacs ever held in Brisbane.

Last Sunday's Pontiac Show at Redcliffe Showgrounds was the first Pontiac gathering to be held in Queensland since 2017, eight years ago. We're not due to host the Nationals again for another six years, with Victoria then NSW to host the biennial event on rotation next. But should we wait six more years before holding another Pontiac show in Queensland? Is there enough interest to stage an annual 'pow-wow' of passionate Pontiac fans? With over 600 registered Pontiacs in south-east Queensland and 94 turning up last Sunday, it appears the idea has merit. In addition to the 94 there were quite a few that were very keen but needed a bit more time to have their cars ready. The showgrounds was a much better venue than the Pelican Park we originally proposed, and today hosted a car show for the Sunstate Panel Van Club. Perhaps we could make it a weekend with a Saturday afternoon social followed by night cruising and the show on Sunday morning? Let us know in the comments if you'd support an annual gathering of Pontiacs in Queensland, so scenes like these could be seen more regularly.
