Dear Biong Community,

It is with profound deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our beloved brother and son, Jok Abdon Agau Jongkuch Nhial who passed away in Canberra, Australia, over the weekend.

Jok was a kind and gentle soul, a devoted son, a cherished father, brother, and a dear friend to many. His warmth, strength, humility, and generosity touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, and the love he so freely shared with his family, friends, and the wider community. His memory will remain forever in our hearts.

As we mourn this painful loss, we stand in solidarity with the family of Abdon Agau Jongkuch and the entire Jongkuch Nhial family, extending our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers during this difficult time.

We carry this grief in our hearts, but we take comfort in the memories Jok leaves behind and in the belief that he is now at peace.

Funeral arrangements and service details will be communicated to the community once they have been confirmed. We thank everyone for their prayers, support, and understanding as the family mourns this significant loss.

Deng Panchol Athiak on his appointment as the Caretaker Commissioner of Bor County, South Sudan. We are confident that you will faithfully deliver the responsibilities entrusted to you by the President of South Sudan, Governor of Jonhlei State and the people of Bor.

Biong has always produced capable leaders including current Secretary General for government of South Sudan, Hon Abdon Agau Jongkuch, Former Director General of South Sudan Electricity Corporation, Chancellor of Uppernile University and Chairman of Bor Community- Professor Ajuoi Magot Chol and the most notable politician in the history of Sudan politics, Hon. Anai Kur Agol MP, former Commissioner of Bor Centre (1972-1990) and many more sons and daughters of Biong. Hon Anai won a well‑contested election contest between him, Akuot Atem and many others. Hon Daniel Deng Panchol appointment continues this proud tradition of leadership and service.

While balancing the demanding responsibilities of motherhood, her determination stands as a model of resilience, discipline, and purpose. Her achievement reflects exceptional perseverance, professional depth, and a steadfast commitment to standard of service always upheld by our daughters of Biong. We very proud of you!

We wish to inform the community that the memorial service for the late Jongkuch Kur Jongkuch will be held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, 124 Brisbane Street, Ipswich, on 22 August 2026.

Following the service, the burial will take place at Goodna Cemetery.

Death Announcement of Uncle Alier Deng Lual in India with a long illness.

Dear members of the Deng Lual family, friends and the Biong community worldwide,

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Uncle Alier Deng Lual in India this evening at around 5:00 p.m. East African Time (EAT).

Further updates regarding the arrival of his body in Juba will be communicated tomorrow after consultations with the family members.

Death Announcement

Dear Biong Community in Australia and across the globe,

It is with a deeply saddened heart that I inform you of the passing of Jongkuch Peter Kur Jongkuch Achieu in Queensland, Australia. Jongkuch was attacked by unknown individuals, and despite medical efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Saturday, 1 August 2026.

The matter remains under active police investigation, and his body is currently with the Coroners for further examination. This is a life cut far too short, and a loss felt profoundly by all who knew and loved him.

On behalf of the family, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the first responders, the Queensland Police Service, the doctors, nurses, and all medical practitioners who worked tirelessly from the moment of the incident on Sunday, 25 July 2026. Your professionalism, compassion, and dedication have been a source of strength to the family during an unimaginably difficult period.

We also acknowledge and thank every individual who has supported the family since that day through presence, prayers, messages, and practical assistance. Your solidarity has been deeply felt.

Our police officers are often the first to confront trauma in our Australian society, and on behalf of the family, extended family and friends, I express our sincere appreciation for their service and continued efforts in this matter.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
