🎶 Kurilpa Kiosk | Jungaji Legacy Project Listening Party 🎶
There was something special in the air as we gathered at the Kurilpa Kiosk to honour and listen deeply to the sounds of the Jungaji Legacy Project.
With heartfelt thanks to the Brisbane Festival team, Jungaji, and the community who gathered with us today.

These tracks carry more than music. They hold the voices, experiences, and spirit of community who shared in the Neighbourhood Centres Program across 2024–2025 , a space where creativity, healing, and cultural expression came together.

Massive thanks to Brisbane Festival and legacy project!

National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect, learn and take meaningful action. 🖤💛❤️

At Community Plus Queensland, we remain committed to continuing our journey toward reconciliation and strengthening our support for First Nations peoples and communities.

This commitment is reflected through the work we do across our community centres, our First Nations Food Project, and the ongoing development and delivery of our Reconciliation Action Plan.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey built through listening, learning, respect and action. During National Reconciliation Week, we reaffirm our commitment to walking alongside First Nations peoples and contributing to stronger, more inclusive communities.

Look what's happening this National Reconciliation Week, painting has begun on the new Kiosk mural at People’s Park, West End

Community Plus Qld and Brisbane City Council is proud to support artists Jenny Pineapple Martinelli, Duane Doyle and Sue Loveday in creating an artwork that honours the long history and spirit of this important community space.

Through community gatherings and conversations with park visitors, the artists listened deeply to stories and experiences connected to the park. The result is ‘Old Way New Way’ a mural grounded in listening, connection and respect for Elders.
As we mark National Reconciliation Week, this project reflects the importance of sharing stories, recognising history and strengthening understanding through community and culture. The artists acknowledge the significance of being in this place and honouring the stories of Elders through their work.

We look forward to seeing Old Way New Way come to life in People’s Park.

Today, Community Plus QLD stands in truth and alongside First Nations peoples, honouring the strength, resilience and enduring spirit of the Stolen Generations. We remember those who were forcibly taken from their families, communities, culture, and Country.
We recognise this history is not past, it continues to live on through ongoing, intergenerational impacts that affect wellbeing, identity, connection, and justice today.

Sorry without action is not enough.
This year’s theme, From Sorry to Action, calls for urgent, tangible and measurable change, within the lifetimes of Stolen Generations survivors.

We are guided by relationships, respect, and the leadership of community. We acknowledge that healing and justice must be led by those most impacted, and that as allies, our responsibility is to listen deeply, walk alongside, and support community-led solutions.

Today, we invite our community, partners and allies to reflect:

How will you move from sorry to action?
We encourage you to mark the day by learning, listening and showing up — you can find local and national events here: https://healingfoundation.org.au/news-events/

Let this be more than a moment. Let it be part of an ongoing commitment to truth-telling, healing, justice, and self-determination.

This event is organised by Resilient Moorooka, a new community group looking at how we can build a resilient future together.

When: 3pm - 4.30pm, Saturday 6th June
Where: The Clubhouse Moorooka

Who should come?

Anyone who lives in Moorooka, and anyone curious about building a more connected community.
