ABOUT US
Better Together Fund Limited is a not-for-profit and ACNC registered charity established to support flood affected individuals and families impacted by the rainfall and flooding disaster in February and March 2022. Better Together Fund Limited has established the Bette
r Together Brisbane Flood Relief Fund to raise donations to support flood affected residents across South East Queensland. The Better Together Brisbane Flood Relief Fund has been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient. 100% of the funds received by the Better Together Brisbane Flood Relief Fund (after transaction fees charged by giving platforms) will be provided to people able to benefit from the Fund. The Better Together Brisbane Flood Relief Fund can operate for a period of 2 years after the disaster to provide ongoing support to affected residents. OUR PURPOSE
A flooding disaster has immediate and long term impacts on those affected. Our purpose is to support flood affected residents suffering a form of financial distress or hardship from the devastating effects of the rain and flood disaster that impacted South East Queensland in February and March 2022. We aim to provide a meaningful contribution to people as they try to restore what has been lost during the flood. OUR INSPIRATION FOR THE BETTER TOGETHER BRISBANE FLOOD RELIEF FUND
The inspiration to establish the Better Together Brisbane Flood Relief Fund comes from witnessing first hand the support provided by members of our community to help flood affected family, friends and residents in the aftermath of the disaster and the benefits achieved by working together. We hope to extend the support offered to flood affected residents in the period after the event by receiving tax deductible donations in the Fund and distributing 100% (after transaction fees charged by giving platforms) of the donations to flood affected residents who have suffered from this disaster. One particular experience during the clean-up moved us to register the charity and create the Better Together Brisbane Flood Relief Fund - after the waters receded, we were finishing the clean-up at a friend's home when we saw a man with a garden hose attempting to clean a home affected by contaminated stormwater (what seemed like an impossible task). We initially provided support by operating a generator and power hose to clean the pathway and exterior of the house, and we were followed by almost 20 members of the community providing assistance. Together, the community made a positive contribution to a family that was devastated by the flood. Through this experience we realised that even the smallest start by one person can inspire others and together make a meaningful difference. In starting the Better Together Brisbane Flood Relief Fund we feel very much like the person with a garden hose facing an impossible task. Our hope is that our actions will inspire others to contribute to the Fund in order to make a positive impact on flood affected residents. Make a difference to flood affected individuals and families whose personal property was impacted by the disaster and suffered a form of financial distress or hardship
2. Prioritise individuals and families that are without the benefit of insurance or a safety net to restore personal property impacted by the floods
3. Provide timely relief to individuals and families
4. Be transparent and communicate outcomes to donors and the community
5. Appreciate contributions from the public and the difference it will make
