King’s in Pink is back for 2026! 🩷🩷🩷

What began as a simple cocktail lunch hosted by Thérèse Eddy to welcome women into the community and support breast cancer research has grown into a powerful tradition along the Brisbane River.

Today, King’s in Pink brings together our community for a 5km fun run and walk, This cause is deeply personal to the College community, with many mothers, aunts, sisters or friends facing this disease.

That’s why, this year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: to raise $26,000 in 2026 for to support their research into combination therapies for more effective treatment. All proceeds of this year’s event go directly to Project Pink at the Campus, supporting world-class research aimed at curing breast cancer.

Join us this October as we run, walk, and rally together for a future free from breast cancer

Flashback Friday (on a Tuesday! šŸ•°ļø)

On Monday, 25 August, the King’s in Pink (KIP) student team had the incredible opportunity to visit the Princess Alexandra Hospital and tour their world-class research labs. šŸ’–

Anna Norfolk, the 2025 KIP Convenor, shared, ā€œAttending the PA Hospital was an eye-opening experience, allowing us to witness firsthand the groundbreaking work being done in breast cancer research."

The team was guided by Dr Simpson and her research group, who showed them where cancer cells are grown for testing, the state-of-the-art vaccine research facility currently under construction, and even introduced them to the PhD students whose future work will be directly supported by our donations. šŸ”¬āœØ

Anna went on to say, ā€œIt’s easy to think that our fundraising efforts might not have a huge impact, but the PA Research Foundation showed us that even smaller donations, like $4,000 or $5,000, are vital in helping researchers apply for grants and push forward the kind of research that could lead to a cure.ā€

We couldn’t be prouder of our King’s community, who raised an incredible $25,000 through the King’s in Pink Fun Run/Walk this year. šŸŽ‰ This amount will directly support Project Pink in their mission to find better treatments and ultimately a cure for breast cancer.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who contributed and supported this cause, as well as to our Patron, Therese Eddy, and the KIP Student Committee: Anna Norfolk, Henry Di**le, Gian Azzopardi, Stirling Munsie, Ava Kuehn, Lucy Stephenson, Jono Moffitt, Ned Cowan, and Eva Henshaw. Your dedication truly made a difference! šŸ™šŸ’•
