Thank you so much to everyone at SAS Group for your generous support in printing Peggy’s Place’s new booklets and providing the printing for our recent Lunch with Heart.

The booklets will help us share our story and the work we do alongside women and children rebuilding their lives after domestic and family violence. Your support also helped us bring Lunch with Heart together and made such a difference to the day.

We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity, and for being part of the community supporting our families.

A heartfelt thank you to Seal Chong Wah - Councillor for Paddington Ward, for her support through the Lord Mayor’s Community Fund, with a grant for a covered bike shed at Peggy’s Place. 💛🚲

This will give our children a dedicated place to store their bikes, protected from the weather and ready for their next adventure! Whilst there is only one lonely bike at the moment, this shelter housed 14 bikes and scooters until recently :)

For children who have experienced domestic and family violence, having somewhere safe to ride, play and simply enjoy being children means so much.

Thank you for helping us create a welcoming home where our families can recover, rebuild and make happy new memories. 💛

🎤 Our Peggy’s Place roving reporters were on the move at Lunch with Heart!

They caught up with guests throughout the day to hear what brought them along and why the work of Peggy’s Place matters to them. We loved hearing the warmth and generosity in their conversations.

$252,000 raised at Lunch with Heart! ❤️

We are still trying to find the words to express how grateful we are. To everyone who bought a ticket, sponsored the event, donated or helped bring the day together at Brisbane City Hall......thank you.

Seeing the laughter, the smiles and the genuine camaraderie of everyone who came along makes me feel humbled and so very blessed to lead the Peggy’s Place team. Together, you have raised an incredible $252,000 to support women and children as they recover from domestic and family violence and build safe, independent futures.

The work we do at Peggy’s Place is deeply rewarding. It is also hard, complex and, at times, emotionally exhausting. The people caring for women and children through trauma need care and support themselves.

My own experiences have taught me how deeply a toxic workplace culture affects people. They have also shaped the kind of leader I strive to be. I want Peggy’s Place to be a place where staff feel safe to speak openly, ask for help and know they will be treated with kindness and respect.

I am extremely grateful for our team and the compassion they bring to work every day. Every person brings something valuable, and every role matters. No staff member is worth more or less than another. No team is worth more or less than another.

The trust our team has built matters. Words matter too, and every one of us has a responsibility to speak with care, especially when the work is hard.

We will not always get everything right. What matters is that we listen, take responsibility and keep learning together. Women should lift one another up and celebrate each other’s strengths.

Our team gives so much to the families at Peggy’s Place. They deserve the same care and respect they give to others. 💜

🎉 A VERY SPECIAL MILESTONE FOR PEGGY’S PLACE! 🎉

Today, we are absolutely thrilled to celebrate something incredibly special…

🏡 Our 40th family is transitioning from Peggy’s Place into their very own home! 🏡

For this mum, today represents so much more than receiving the keys to a house.

It means safety. Stability. Independence. A fresh start. And finally, a place she can call her own. ❤️

We are so incredibly excited for her as she takes this next step. Watching the women and children who come through Peggy’s Place rebuild their confidence, regain their independence and eventually walk out our doors ready to begin their next chapter is exactly why we do what we do.

And the excitement isn’t over yet!

Right now, her new home may be four empty walls, but we know that is about to change. We can’t wait to see the transformation when our wonderful friends at RizeUp work their magic, turning those empty rooms into a warm, welcoming home where this family can truly begin their next chapter. 🏡✨

There is something incredibly special about seeing a house become a home — a place to feel safe, to exhale, to make memories and to start dreaming about the future.

Today, we also celebrate 40 families who have made this transition from Peggy’s Place into safe, independent homes and begun building their lives beyond refuge.

To our amazing team, supporters, partners, donors and everyone who believes in Peggy’s Place — you are part of every one of these stories.

But most importantly, to this wonderful mum…

Congratulations! You did it. ❤️

May your new home be filled with happiness, laughter, peace and beautiful new memories.

What a wonderful day we shared at Peggys Place Lunch with Heart Fundraiser on Friday 18 September at Brisbane City Hall! ❤️

We are still taking in the warmth and generosity in the room. It was a wonderful success, and we are so grateful to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, contributed a prize or helped bring the day together. Your support means so much to the women and children at Peggy’s Place.

Our very own roving reporters spoke with some of the attendees during the lunch. We’ll share their thoughts, along with photos and videos from the day, over the coming week, so you can enjoy some of the moments with us.

Music can help us find our voice when words are hard to find. 💛

We were privileged to welcome Griffith University’s Creative Transitions program to Peggy’s Place. Through singing, songwriting, drumming and simply listening together, women had space to connect, express themselves and experience the joy of making music.

Recovery is about more than finding a safe place to live. It is also about rebuilding confidence, connection and a sense of possibility. We are grateful to Professor Brydie Bartleet and the Griffith team for bringing this thoughtful program to our families.
