Breaking news - Wellers Hill CC will be merging with our friends to form Bulimba CC’s Maiden Senior cricket team. We are all very excited for this next chapter for our little old club and to be working with such a great junior club like Bulimba. Thank you all for the support over the years, thank you to our sponsors over the past couple of years . And that is it, season 22/23 has come to an end… unfortunately no finals cricket this year but the boys didn’t go down without a fight, knocking off two top of the ladder teams in the last two rounds. Both games have been set up with some great top order batting by Jim Hocking, Chris Melvin and Luke Campbell with cameos by evergreen Brendan MacDermott and young Max Knight. Our star bowlers have come to the party as well with Dan Parker and Ben McLachlan both putting outstanding performances over the last 4 weeks. These wins have been whole team performances with batsmen and bowlers doing the job and the boys backing up everything in field. Thanks to all the players that have participated this season and all the supporters who have come down to the ground or liked a post. Thanks to all our Wives, partners and children for letting us play this silly game every Saturday. Thanks to .mclachlan for again looking after our pitch and everything else, for his captaincy and first aid skills and our club president Kev Haley for his scoring and hard behind the scenes. See you all at the break up and next season. Wellers out! 🏏

Late Team announcement 📣 and progress score- The lads are in a really strong position going into the final day of the regular season trying to knock off top of the ladder Cleveland Thornlands. Another handy partnership from and set us up to have a crack at the Cleveland top order late in the day where and .mclachlan cashed in and grabbed a few valuable wickets. wellershill 🏏

Match Result - The boys get a win in a nail biter against Wolston Park. The boys put on a big total in week 1 with opener Jim Hocking once again playing the role as anchor and scoring his first half century for the club. Jim was supported by number 4 Chris Melvin who also notched up his first Wellers 50 with some beautiful stroke play. Some late order runs by Brendo, Lukey and Parks saw the team post 260 and batting the entire first day. Day 2 wasn’t a walk in the park with Wolston parks middle order showing some grit and taking things down to the final hour. Benny and Parks combined well early with the ball keeping things tight and making an early breakthrough before Shiv came on grabbed a couple of quick wickets. After Tea we made some in roads again before Benny had to leave the field due to a nasty collision with Browny during a run out. Wolston park went on and put on some quick runs before Parks and Lukey steadied the ship with some tight bowling and taking the last three wickets. 🏏
