🚨 New INTERPOL report highlights escalating cyber threats across Asia and South Pacific

INTERPOL’s latest Asia and South Pacific Cyberthreat Assessment Report has revealed a dramatic increase in cybercrime across the region driven by rapid digitalization, new technologies and increasingly organized criminal networks.

➡️ The report found that more than half of the countries surveyed reported cybercrime now accounting for 30% of all crimes recorded nationally.

Cyber-scam techniques such as phishing have emerged as the most widespread and financially damaging form of cybercrime, with 33% of countries reporting over 10,000 cases.

Other key regional trends highlighted include:

🔵 Ransomware: More than 135,000 ransomware-related attacks, affecting sectors such as real estate, manufacturing and financial services.
🔵 DDoS attacks: A 92% increase in 2024 compared to the previous year.
🔵 AI-driven crime: Discussions about deepfakes on forums and channels popular among Southeast Asian threat actors increased by 600% from February to June 2024.
🔵 Phishing: 5.5 out of every 1,000 individuals had clicked on phishing links monthly – approximately twice the global average – with cloud applications the primary targets.
🔵 Data breaches: System intrusions accounted for approximately 80% of all data breaches, with malware and ransomware present in 83% and 51% of cases respectively.

The AFP has assisted a Europol-led investigation targeting an offshore money launderer that washed $542 million for cybercriminals, including a ransomware group that extorted an Australian business.

AFP contributions began in November, 2025, when investigators uncovered activity by two foreign administrators who allegedly ran a money laundering service for cybercriminals from Georgia.

The money laundering service, known as AudiA6, was allegedly given illegally obtained finances (often cryptocurrency) by cybercriminals, ‘cleaned’ the money, and converted it into traditional currencies. The launderers allegedly charged commissions of between three and 10 per cent.

The service is suspected of laundering more than $542 million between 2022 and 2025.

AudiA6 was advertised on cybercrime forum ‘Dark2Web’, and it’s alleged the service laundered part of a ransom paid by an Australian business in 2024.

Search warrants took place this week in Georgia, where two men were arrested. Three properties were searched in Georgia, 25 domains were taken down, and more than 30 servers were seized.

🛡️ GUARDIAN ANGELS MINISTRY | STANDING WITH THE PERSECUTED, PROTECTING THE VULNERABLE ✝️

There are battles being fought every day that rarely make the headlines.

Across the world, millions of men, women and children suffer because of their faith. Churches are burned. Communities are displaced. Families are threatened. Believers are imprisoned, assaulted, and in some regions, even killed simply because they choose to follow Christ.

Yet religious persecution is only one face of a much darker reality.

Hidden in plain sight are victims of human trafficking, modern slavery, forced labour, domestic servitude, coercive control, child exploitation, forced and arranged marriages, online grooming, and psychological abuse. Many are isolated, silenced, and trapped by circumstances beyond their control. Some are refugees fleeing persecution. Others are vulnerable members of our own communities. All are deserving of dignity, protection, and hope.

The mission of the Persecuted Christians and Guardian Angels Ministry is founded upon a simple but powerful principle:

To serve Christ by serving and protecting His people.

We believe that authentic Christian faith must be demonstrated through action. It is not enough to simply witness suffering from afar. We are called to stand alongside those who suffer, to defend the vulnerable, and to be a voice for those who have none.

Our ministry seeks to:

✝️ Support persecuted Christians and faith communities worldwide.

🛡️ Raise awareness of religious persecution and violations of fundamental human rights.

👥 Equip communities to recognise and respond to human trafficking, modern slavery, exploitation, and abuse.

🏠 Advocate for those trapped in domestic servitude, coercive control, and situations of vulnerability.

👶 Protect children from exploitation, forced marriage, grooming, and abuse.

❤️ Provide compassionate support, referral pathways, education, and practical assistance to vulnerable individuals and families.

🤝 Partner with churches, charities, community organisations, law enforcement agencies, and human rights advocates to strengthen community protection networks.

📚 Deliver education and safeguarding programs that empower ordinary people to identify warning signs and take safe, responsible action.

Our inspiration comes from Christ Himself, who stood with the oppressed, defended the vulnerable, comforted the broken-hearted, and challenged those who exploited the weak.

In a world where many look away, we choose to look closer.

Where others remain silent, we choose to speak.

Where fear and exploitation seek to flourish, we choose to stand as guardians of human dignity.

This is not about politics.

This is not about publicity.

This is about people.

It is about the innocent child who deserves protection.

It is about the refugee seeking safety.

It is about the woman trapped in exploitation.

It is about the family fleeing persecution.

It is about the vulnerable person who needs someone to care enough to act.

Every one of us can play a role.

Learn the signs. Share the message. Support the vulnerable. Report concerns. Pray for the persecuted. Stand with survivors.

Together, we can help build communities where faith is respected, dignity is protected, and exploitation has nowhere to hide.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” — Proverbs 31:8

🕊️ International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers 🕊️

Today, on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who serve act as under the banner of the United Nations in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

For generations, UN Peacekeepers have stood between conflict and peace, offering protection to vulnerable communities, supporting humanitarian efforts, facilitating reconciliation, and helping nations rebuild in the aftermath of war and civil unrest. Their service often comes at great personal risk, and many have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of a more peaceful world.

As modern Templars, we are called to be builders of peace. While the medieval knights of old defended pilgrims and protected the vulnerable, today’s Christian chivalric vocation challenges us to uphold justice, compassion, reconciliation, and human dignity wherever they are threatened.

The Grand Priory of Australia, through its registered not-for-profit charity, the Knights Templar Foundation Incorporated, proudly supports initiatives that advance peace, humanitarian relief, community resilience, and international cooperation. We recognise that lasting peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, understanding, and hope.

As a member organisation of the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA), the Knights Templar Foundation remains committed to promoting awareness of the United Nations’ peacebuilding mission and supporting efforts that foster stability, human rights, and international goodwill. Through education, advocacy, charitable action, and community engagement, we seek to contribute in our own way to a more peaceful and harmonious world.

Today, we offer our gratitude to all current and former Peacekeepers, including the many Australians who have served with distinction in missions across the globe. Their example reminds us that peace requires courage, service, and an unwavering commitment to the common good.

May we all be inspired to become instruments of peace within our own communities, nations, and the wider world.

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
— Matthew 5:9
