Could construction be your next chapter? 💜

Maybe you’ve always wanted to work in construction but weren’t sure where to start.

Maybe you’ve stepped away from the industry and are ready to find your way back.

Or maybe you simply want the confidence, skills and support to take that first step.

Scaffolding the Future has been created to help make that step a little easier. ✨

Running at TAFE Queensland Bundamba from Monday 26 October – Friday 13 November 2026, this free program is designed to help women explore their potential in construction, build practical skills and connect with opportunities across the industry.

No matter where you’re starting from, your next opportunity could be closer than you think.

Here's another AWIC for your feed... 👀

After that first breakfast with 14 women, we kept getting together.

And judging by the photos from our first year... we had a lot of fun doing it!

There were breakfasts, events, plenty of laughs, new friendships and lots of conversations about what it was really like to be a woman working in construction.

We probably didn't realise it at the time, but we weren't just organising events.

We were building a community.

Today, Awesome Women in Construction is a Queensland-based not-for-profit with a national footprint, championing women to have meaningful and rewarding careers across every part of the construction industry.

From architects to tilers. Engineers to estimators. Apprentices to industry leaders.

Almost 10 years later, a lot has changed.

But one thing hasn't.

AWIC is still about bringing people together, creating connections and supporting each other along the way.

And yes... we still like to have a little fun while we're doing it.

You Build. We Connect.

Green means go! Connecting the next generation with opportunity. 🚀 💜

What a fantastic evening at Queensland Parliament House for AWIC’s October networking event, Green Means Go! With incredible views and construction and government buildings setting the scene, it was the perfect backdrop for an evening of connection, collaboration and celebrating the future of our industry. 🏗️✨

A highlight was hearing AWIC Founder and CEO Amanda Bulow share her vision for Be Ready and the journey to bring it to life.

We were also excited to showcase the new Be Ready platform, developed by talented QUT Capstone students in collaboration with industry. The platform aims to help young people explore career pathways across construction, mining and aggregates, connecting the next generation with opportunities to build their future.

It was wonderful to welcome special guests, including:
The Hon Amanda Stoker MP, Assistant Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training.
The Hon Fiona Simpson MP, Minister for Women and Women's Economic Security, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the event. Your support helps AWIC continue building connections and creating opportunities for the next generation. 💜

Together, we’re building a stronger future for construction!

Monday reminder: you belong in the room, at the table and wherever your career takes you. ✨

Keep showing up, backing yourself and building the future you want to see.

Because when more women step forward, the whole industry moves forward. 💜

14 women. One breakfast. No grand plan.

When Amanda invited 14 women from the construction industry to breakfast, the idea was simple... bring women together to connect, support each other and share their experiences.

She didn't know that breakfast would become the beginning of Awesome Women in Construction as we know it today.

There was no 10-year strategy. No roadshows. No awards. No programs. No thought of reaching thousands of students or building a statewide community.

There were simply 14 women around a table.

But there was clearly a need for connection.

One breakfast led to another conversation. One introduction led to another opportunity. More women joined us. Industry got behind us. And, little by little, AWIC grew.

As we head towards our 10th birthday, we're going back through the archives to share some of the moments that shaped AWIC.

It seems only right that our first Flashback Friday starts with the moment that started it all.

14 women around a breakfast table.

Who could have imagined where it would lead?

LAST CHANGE TO REGISTER!

Our October Networking Event is about bringing people together, to make new connections, catch up with familiar faces, share ideas and continue building a stronger construction industry. And this time, we have something pretty exciting to share.

Together with our education partner QUT (Queensland University of Technology), we’ll be showcasing the next stage of Be Ready, including work developed by our QUT Capstone students to help school leavers and job seekers see not just how they can enter construction, but where a career in our industry could take them.

From subjects at school, to TAFE and university pathways, first jobs, related roles and future career opportunities, we want people to see the bigger picture.

And who better to share it with first than industry?
