Day Out at Southbank , Monday 24 August 2026

Join us for a relaxed day out exploring Southbank with the Deaf Space community

📍 Meet at Max Brenner Cafe, Southbank
🕥 Time: 10:00 am – 2.00 pm
🚶 Then: Walk along the lagoon to South Bank Botanic Garden
🍽️ Lunch/coffee & socialising with old and new friends

⛴️ Note: Ferries are closed 12pm–4pm due to strike action. If time permits, we may catch a short ferry trip to New Farm and back — but no pressure, it's optional and depends on the day!

💰 Free event – just bring or buy your own lunch
🎒 No strict itinerary – come and go as you please!

What to bring: comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle 🧴👒👟💧

With the new financial year bringing price increases across many services, we’re keeping our Auslan interpreting rates the same.

2-hour minimum for all bookings (VRI 1.5-hour minimum).

Monday–Friday: $135.74/hr
After Hours (Mon–Fri, 6pm–8am): $140/hr
Saturday: $150/hr
Sunday: $165/hr
Public Holidays: $165/hr

If a weekday booking runs into after hours (6pm–8pm), the full booking will be charged at the after-hours rate. There are no additional after-hours rates on weekends or public holidays.

💦 SILENT AQUA CLASSES FOR THE DEAF COMMUNITY 💦

A wonderful instructor, Beatriz, is running Silent Aqua classes for the Deaf community. She has many years of experience teaching aqua fitness and is currently learning Auslan to make her classes more accessible.

This runs every Saturdays for 7 weeks starting 8th AUGUST 2026 12.45pm-1.45pm at Mt Gravatt East Swimming Pool

This is a TRIAL, if successful City of Brisbane will extend this until JUNE 2027

What to expect:
✅ Adults only
✅ Only pay pool entry.
✅ Low impact exercise
✅ All fitness levels welcome
✅ Improve strength, balance, cardio and flexibility
✅ Demonstrations throughout the session
✅ Whiteboard available for communication

Bookings are essential!!!

💰Fee: YOU ONLY PAY FOR POOL ENTRY
- $5.90 concession (VERY CHEAP)
- $7.20 general admission

Join us for a fun day exploring Brisbane! We'll meet at Roma Street Parklands, catch the CityCat to South Bank, explore, enjoy lunch together, then ferry back to Roma Street (or you're welcome to make your own way home).

💰 Ferry fares & lunch are at your own expense.
