We meet on the fourth Sunday morning of the month.

Established in early 2024, we’re a committed band of local community volunteers working to revegetate the Kedron Brook, starting on the west side of the Gilbert Road bridge.

BUSHCARE 🐝 ON THE BROOK 💧 THIS WEEKEND! We know it’s only the third Sunday of the month (and we usually meet on the fourth), but with ANZAC Day next weekend we thought some people might be away. We hope our wonderful regulars can still come and maybe some new volunteers can join too! We’ll be w**ding our patch 🌿🌱 again and maybe even planting!! Hope to see you at 7am on the Brook at the end of Jean St!

SEEMS LIKE DEJA VU: Same day, date and time, just one month on. Looking forward to seeing our wonderful bushcarers on Sunday at 7am to do some more w**ding. Hopefully we can plant again soon!

SUCCESSFUL SUNDAY! Thank you to everyone who came to our working bee 🐝 last Sunday. It was great to welcome another new member and keen bushcarer. Next working bee is 22 March at 7am. Hope to see you then. Continued thanks too to Leanne for watering and Alice for the ongoing tadpole trapping in between our working bees!!

CANE TOADS BUSTED FOR 2026!!! Thank you so much to all of our enthusiastic toad busters last night! We managed a whopping 39kg this year! We even saw a few native frogs, which is very encouraging for our beautiful Brook’s renewal. 🐸🐸🐸 Thank you to Watergum andWatergums for all your support.

THIS YEAR’S GREAT CANE TOAD BUST is this Sunday night on the Brook. We meet on the Brook at the end of Jean St.

Come and help bag some grown cane toads 🐸. It’s surprisingly fun - even if getting close to them doesn’t excite you, there’s a job you can do working in small teams or pairs.

Please bring:
- Gloves 🧤
- Bright torch to see them 🔦
- Long tongs / rubbish grabbers to grab them
- Bucket 🪣 or bag 💼

Thanks to our Bushcarer Alice, who is regularly setting cane toad tadpole traps in the water, we tackling the problem at both ends. Here’s the link to follow her trapping progress. https://bne.social/.

NEW YEAR MORNING TEA: Gilbert Road Bushcare Group vollies celebrated the new year and our two year anniversary 🎉 with some delicious treats 🧁 🍉 after a humid few hours of w**ding on Sunday. We were very pleased to admire our work and see our plants absolutely thriving 🌱. As always, a very big thank you to our loyal volunteers 🙏💕. Next working bee 🐝 is Sunday 22 February 7-9am. And don’t forget the Cane Toad Bust this coming Sunday 18 February @ 7.15pm. See you there! 🐸

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Bushcare Working Bee 🌱 🐝 is on this Sunday 7-9am. Our plants are thriving, including the Casuarinas that were attacked by the swarm of beetles 🪲 before Christmas. We just need to attack the w**ds again Looking forward to seeing you there!

SUNDAY SUCCESS! Thanks to all band of volunteers who braved the heat and humidity to clear w**ds yesterday! A special thanks to the cane toad tadpole trap setters too working to try and minimise their infestation. Happy holidays to all and our next working bee is Sunday 11 January 7-9am. We’ll also have a volunteer BBQ that evening to celebrate our good work!! 🕺💃🏼🎉💚

CANE TOAD BUSTING COMING SOON!! Thank you Watergum and Louise Dark for your kind donations of new cane toad traps and lures! We’ll be setting some traps this weekend at our Sunday Working Bee and gearing up for the annual Cane Toad Bust on 18 January 2026.

Please come and help w**d to give our plants light and space to grow. Please bring gloves, hat, water, and any w**ding tools. See you at 7am 🥵.
